A Florida girlfriend tracked her cheating boyfriend, shot the other woman with a pink Glock to “make a point,” and now faces attempted murder charges, cops say.
The New York Post reported that Katherine Kelly, 25, of Cocoa, Florida, opened fire after finding boyfriend Elijah Baker with another woman inside her own car.
Police say Baker had taken Kelly’s Volkswagen for a late-night drive Friday. Kelly tracked the car’s location, rode an Uber to Port St. John, and found him there with Angel Adenau.
She then fired a pink-and-black Glock into the passenger side of the vehicle. Adenau was hit in the shoulder. Officers did not say how badly she was hurt.
Before the Friday drive, Kelly had texted Baker about her suspicions that he was cheating. In those messages, she also threatened to shoot someone, the police report shows.
That sequence matters. The texts came first. The tracking came next. The gunfire followed.
Kelly did not stumble into a surprise. She went looking for the parked car, arrived by rideshare, and put rounds into the passenger side once she found Baker with Adenau.
After the shooting, Kelly first told investigators she acted in self-defense. That account did not hold as the final explanation she gave police.
She later told them she opened fire to “make a point” over her boyfriend’s cheating.
"make a point"
That is the motive line cops recorded. Not fear. A message.
Brevard County authorities charged Kelly with attempted first-degree murder. That count carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
Inmate records also list aggravated battery with a weapon and shooting into a vehicle. The case sits with local law enforcement after the Port St. John shooting tied to the Cocoa resident and her Volkswagen.
Baker took the car. Adenau was in the passenger seat area when the gun went off. Kelly brought the pink-and-black Glock to the scene after tracking them and paying for the Uber ride.
None of that turns betrayal into a legal green light. Florida charged the shooter. The victim took a round in the shoulder. The stated reason, once the self-defense claim dropped, was settling a score out loud with a handgun.
Jealousy is not a defense. Firing into a car to punish a cheating boyfriend is how a free adult ends up staring at decades behind bars.
