Marjorie Taylor Greene Probes Planned Parenthood’s Taxpayer Funding Misuse

 June 14, 2025, NEWS

Hold onto your hats, folks—Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is diving headfirst into a battle over taxpayer dollars with Planned Parenthood under intense scrutiny.

According to Breitbart, Greene has launched a hard-hitting investigation into whether the organization is misusing federal funds for abortions and cross-sex hormone treatments for minors, prompted by a revealing undercover report from the pro-life group Live Action.

This saga kicked off when Greene sent a pointed letter to Planned Parenthood’s President and CEO, Alexis McGill Johnson, raising alarms about the potential commingling of federal money for purposes that may violate laws like the Hyde Amendment, which bans federal funding for abortions. She also flagged executive actions by President Donald Trump that block taxpayer dollars from supporting sex change procedures for minors. Well, if the shoe fits, it’s time to walk the line of accountability.

Uncovering Allegations of Fund Misuse

The Live Action report that sparked this inquiry claims Planned Parenthood offers hormone treatments to minors as young as 16 with scant parental consent or medical oversight. That’s a bold move for an organization raking in $792.2 million in taxpayer funding between 2023 and 2024, a nearly $100 million jump from the prior year.

Greene’s letter didn’t mince words, accusing Planned Parenthood of using federal funds—intended for services like cancer screenings and wellness exams—for abortions and sex change drugs for minors. With 39 percent of its annual revenue coming from public coffers through programs like Title X, Medicaid, and CHIP, one might wonder if the organization’s priorities align with its funding mandates.

“It is imperative that federal funds provided to Planned Parenthood are administered in compliance with applicable laws and regulations,” Greene stated in her letter. And she’s got a point—shouldn’t transparency be the bare minimum when handling nearly $800 million of public money?

Abortion Numbers and Controversial Practices

Planned Parenthood’s latest report shows it performed over 400,000 abortions in the 2023-2024 period, up from 392,000 the year before, marking a 23 percent rise over the past decade. Greene highlighted this trend, suggesting a troubling shift in focus for an organization supposedly centered on broader health services.

“Despite receiving 39 percent of its annual revenue from federal funds intended for essential health services, Planned Parenthood is increasingly using its resources to offer abortions to its patients,” Greene noted. If the numbers keep climbing while taxpayer dollars flow, it’s no surprise conservatives are raising eyebrows.

Greene also called out Planned Parenthood for questionable practices beyond abortions, including reports of fetal body parts dealings and providing cross-sex hormones to minors with allegedly minimal medical or psychological evaluation. With 45 affiliate health centers offering hormones for “gender-affirming care” under vague “other procedures” categories, the lack of clarity only fuels suspicion. Turns out, hiding the fine print doesn’t make the questions disappear.

Parental Consent and Policy Gaps

On the issue of minors and hormone treatments, Greene pointed out that Planned Parenthood’s policies vary by state, with some centers providing these drugs to teens as young as 16 with parental consent. Yet, she accused the organization of inconsistent adherence to even its own rules on consent. That’s a slippery slope when dealing with life-altering decisions for kids.

“Planned Parenthood’s official policy varies by state, but some health centers will provide cross-sex hormones to minors as young as 16 years old with parental consent,” Greene explained. If the rules are this patchwork, how can parents—or taxpayers—trust the process?

To get to the bottom of it, Greene demanded a mountain of data, including non-public financial statements from January 2020 to June 2025, to scrutinize how Planned Parenthood stewards taxpayer funds. It’s a tall order, but when public money is at stake, no stone should be left unturned.

Republican Push to Defund Providers

Meanwhile, Republicans, including Greene, are rallying behind President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful, Bill” to strip funding from abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. With federal dollars coming through multiple channels, the fight to redirect those resources is heating up. It’s a classic showdown between fiscal responsibility and progressive health agendas.

Planned Parenthood, for its part, has stayed silent, offering no response to requests for comment by publication time. That quiet might speak louder than words—after all, dodging tough questions rarely wins trust.

As this investigation unfolds, the core issue remains: Are taxpayer dollars being used as intended, or are they bankrolling controversial practices? Greene and her allies are betting on the latter, and with hundreds of millions in public funds on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher. So, Planned Parenthood, the ball’s in your court—time to show the receipts or face the music.
