Hamas has escalated the standoff over Israeli hostages, dismissing a severe warning from President Donald Trump.
According to Fox News, the militant group insists on a new ceasefire deal before agreeing to release additional captives, countering Trump's forceful negotiation efforts.
In a recent declaration, Hamas spokesperson Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua rejected President Trump's threats issued via social media this Wednesday. Al-Qanoua argued that only through renewed ceasefire discussions could the remaining hostages be freed.
These talks would represent the second phase of a ceasefire agreement that was supposed to start early this February after the initial 42-day ceasefire ended last Saturday. However, comprehensive talks have yet to materialize, leaving the situation increasingly volatile.
