Amid ongoing conflicts, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to engage in a significant agreement with US President-elect Donald Trump.
According to the Daily Caller, President Zelenskyy expresses his willingness to conclude a peace deal with Trump, which involves Ukraine supplying critical minerals to the U.S. for financial support.
In a detailed conversation with Reuters, President Zelenskyy shared his optimism about reaching a peace agreement with President-elect Trump that would mark the end of the hostilities with Russia. This war has troubled the region for over two years.
President-elect Trump, who promised in his campaign to strive for global peace, sees this deal as a continuation of his plan to stabilize regions embattled by wars from the Biden-Harris administration’s time. Trump's proposition includes an arrangement where Ukraine would supply the U.S. with rare earths and minerals in exchange for ongoing financial assistance.
These negotiations come after the Biden-Harris administration assisted Ukraine with $175 billion in economic and military support during the conflict.
The necessity of securing Ukraine’s valuable mineral resources against potential exploitation by adversaries was a topic of significant concern for President Zelenskyy. He indicated that less than 20% of these essential resources are currently under Russian control, but notably, this includes about half of Ukraine's rare earth deposits.
President Zelenskyy also highlighted the geopolitical risks associated with these minerals, suggesting the possibility of undesirable alliances between Russia and nations like North Korea and Iran. He emphasized the importance of these resources, stating that they represent substantial financial value and require protection against such threats.

We will protect those trillions. We will prevent Russia from mining the minerals which will later be used to produce technologies for the three countries of the axis of evil. The Americans helped the most, and therefore the Americans should earn the most. And in rebuilding Ukraine, they should have this priority. And they will.
In light of the strategic importance of natural resources, Ukraine proposed a "victory plan" last year, which invited allies to invest in Ukraine's mineral wealth crucial for various technological applications.
