One of Kamala Harris’ first assignments after taking office was to locate the root causes of the immigration issues.
We would think that would include conversations with our border bosses, but that apparently never happened.

Was Kamala Harris ever technically designated as the border czar by the Biden administration? No, but the media did give her that tag, which is why we have so much drama about it now. What Biden did do was say that Harris is going to lead the White House effort to overcome migration challenges at the southern border and work with Central American countries to get to the root causes of the problem.
When Joe Biden introduced this as a task for Harris, he stated, “When she speaks, she speaks for me.” Harris, in turn, responded, “Needless to say, the work will not be easy. But it is important work.”
Harris wound up sending billions to Central American nations to help with these “root causes,” but immigration only got worse, not better, and has only lessened because Biden finally clamped down on the border because we are in an election year. It just proved that this “root causes” narrative was complete and utter nonsense from the outset, as well as the fact that Biden could have controlled immigration from the outset if he wanted to. But there is still that burning question about why Harris never met with border officials to discuss the issue.
Retired Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott worked for about one year under Donald Trump and roughly seven months during the Biden administration. When you consider the border was one of Harris’ first assignments as VP, one would think she would have discussed the issues at the border with Scott before heading to Central America, but that never happened. Scott was asked if he and Harris had any interaction on this matter, and his answers were shocking. He stated:
“Absolutely not. As soon as the [Biden-Harris] administration came in, we were basically told in no uncertain terms that if they wanted our opinions, they would ask, but they never asked.
“At no time did Biden or Harris ever ask to meet with or get briefed by U.S. Border Patrol. No meetings at all.”
Scott, however, also offered more information on Harris’ actual duties in this assignment, and he stated that it was not just the root cases. He explained:
“It was very clear to us and everyone else that she was appointed to actually take the lead and spearhead an initiative on border security. One of the facets was on the root causes.
“So if you only focus on the root causes, she went down to Central America, and the countries that she talked about on her one and only trip, the illegal immigration from those countries like doubled or tripled. She still failed miserably and there was no follow up.”
Scott also discussed the difference in approach between the two administrations he served, stating:
“We had weekly White House meetings in the Trump administration. It wasn’t always with the president or vice president, it was staff, but both Vice President Pence and President Trump were very keenly aware of what was going on at the border and we had a very high level of confidence they were being briefed.
“At no time did the Biden-Harris administration ever want any of that information.”
Scott’s statements are quite concerning because they show that Biden and Harris never really took the border issue seriously. Biden wanted this flow into the country, having openly stated during the campaign that he believed we could accept about two million additional immigrants immediately while also doubling our legal immigration limits. In my opinion, Biden could not get Congress to buy in on this, so he did what he has done with the student loan forgiveness… he just took it upon himself to circumvent the law, opening our borders and allowing the flow to continue until just before the election.
