A devastating accident in northern Thailand has claimed the life of a dedicated infrastructure worker.
People reported that in a heartbreaking event on Sept. 10, Praset Praphrom, a municipal worker, lost his life after a road caved in and buried him while inspecting damages in Chiang Mai, passing away from severe injuries early the next day despite rescue attempts.
The tragic mishap occurred on Wednesday in Chiang Mai, a region in northern Thailand. Praphrom was examining a damaged roadway from a trench when disaster struck.
Video footage acquired by ViralPress captured the horrific moment as debris and pavement tumbled down. The falling material hit Praphrom on his neck, trapping him beneath the rubble.
Emergency responders and an excavator worked tirelessly to clear the heavy load off him. A rescue team even dug manually to reach the trapped man.
After a grueling 20 minutes, they managed to pull Praphrom free, though he was already unresponsive. Immediate medical assistance was provided at the site before rushing him to Nakornping Hospital.
Medical reports from Matichon detailed the extent of his injuries, which were catastrophic. Praphrom suffered from internal damage, fractured bones, and critical organ trauma caused by his ribs.
Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, he succumbed to these wounds at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11. His passing has left a void in his community and workplace.
For over 15 years, Praphrom led the construction team at Don Kaeo Municipality. Colleagues remembered him as a diligent and well-liked member of their team, according to Matichon.
Don Kaeo Municipality Mayor Plakorn Kanthawang shared insights into Praphrom’s final task, which involved assessing flood-damaged paths in Huai Tueng Thao after tropical storm Kajiki. Praphrom was also aiding in laying down new piping in the vicinity, as per ViralPress.
In the wake of this calamity, Mayor Kanthawang has assured a thorough examination of the accident location by appropriate bodies. He emphasized the municipality's commitment to supporting Praphrom’s loved ones during this difficult period with the following statement:
