President Donald Trump has nominated Tulsi Gabbard, once a presidential candidate, as the potential Director of National Intelligence.
Testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Gabbard portrayed a distressing picture of trust deficits and politicization within the U.S. intelligence agencies, Breitbart reported.
Her nomination follows a controversial political career where she openly criticized party lines and former administrations.
In her delivery to the committee, Gabbard highlighted what she considered critical lapses within the intelligence sector. She emphasized the misguided actions that led to the Iraq War, which she described as based upon either "a total fabrication or complete failure of intelligence." This, Gabbard claims, directly resulted in the rise of ISIS and strengthened al-Qaeda.

She further accused former DNI James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan of misleading Congress and abusing their powers without facing any reprisals. Gabbard stated, "Despite egregious acts against Congress and misleading testimonies, no actions were taken against figures like James Clapper and John Brennan, reflecting a concerning absence of accountability."
Gabbard also revealed personal grievances, explaining that she ended up on a secret domestic terror watch list called 'Quiet Skies,' which she believes resulted from criticizing Kamala Harris.
Regarding surveillance, she argued that the FBI engaged in monitoring Catholics who attended traditional Latin Masses, branding them unfairly as radical traditionalists.
She promised transformative changes within the intelligence community to mend the politicization that she argues has tainted its operations. "As the President’s principal intelligence adviser, I begin by leading by example, checking my personal views at the door, and committing to delivering intelligence that is collected, analyzed, and reported without bias, prejudice, or political influence," she asserted.
Asserting that Trump's re-election is a mandate for reform, Tulsi Gabbard stressed the need to depoliticize and restore the credibility of the intelligence agencies.
