Donald Trump's Scottish golf course encountered a disruptive act of vandalism.
According to Breitbart, the activists of Palestine Action targeted the Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire, expressing their disapproval of Trump's policies involving Gaza through extensive defacement and destruction.
The incident occurred on Saturday when protesters intruded upon the golf course, leaving behind a trail of red paint and politically charged graffiti. Expressions like "fuck Trump" and "free Palestine" were visibly tagged across the property.
The vandals did not stop at graffiti; they also excavated the greens, typically the pride of any golf resort. 'Gaza is not 4 sale' was explicitly carved into the turf, highlighting the political motive behind the act. One of the buildings on the premises was drenched in red paint, which appeared to symbolize blood in a dramatic display of protest.
This act of vandalism is directly linked to the former U.S. President's controversial plan for the Gaza Strip, wherein he proposed transforming it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” This proposal was seen as an attempt to assert U.S. control over Gaza and resolve Israeli-Palestinian tensions through economic means.
In a public declaration, Palestine Action articulated its reasons for targeting the golf course. They condemned what they perceive as Trump’s commodification of Gaza, asserting that neither Gaza nor Trump's properties are beyond the reach of their protest actions.
A representative of Palestine Action emphasized their stance with a strong message:
"Palestine Action rejects Donald Trump’s treatment of Gaza as though it were his property to dispose of as he likes. To make that clear, we have shown him that his property is not safe from acts of resistance. We will continue to take action against US-Israeli colonialism in the Palestinian homeland."
Last week, the group also claimed responsibility for another protest involving a man who scaled the Elizabeth Tower in London, displaying a Palestinian flag, to further promote their cause.
On their website, Palestine Action described their overnight demolition of the golf course's carefully manicured greens and the strategic defacement of the clubhouse. The acts of vandalism were part of a broader strategy to publicly reject American-led initiatives in the Gaza Strip.
According to the group's messages, their actions are meant to resist perceived threats of destruction and displacement of Palestinians due to foreign policies and projects led by figures like Donald Trump.
As of now, the statement from Trump or his representatives regarding the incident at Turnberry has not been made public. The local police in South Ayrshire have started investigating the vandalism, aiming to assess the full extent of the damage and the motives behind these actions.
