Brace yourselves, Washington, DC—help is on the way as President Trump takes a bold stand against the spiraling violence plaguing our nation’s capital.
With youth crime running rampant, Trump has announced a deployment of federal law enforcement to DC, potentially as early as Friday, to restore order and safety under his broader vision to rejuvenate the city, New York Post reported.
This move comes on the heels of a brutal attack on Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old former staffer of the Department of Government Efficiency, who was viciously beaten by a group of about 10 juveniles near Dupont Circle early Sunday morning.
Coristine, known by the nickname “Big Balls,” was injured while heroically trying to stop an attempted carjacking just a mile from the White House.
Images of his injuries, shared by Trump and Coristine’s former supervisor Elon Musk, have fueled public outrage and underscored the urgency of addressing this unchecked wave of youth violence.
On Tuesday, Trump took to Truth Social, lamenting how young gang members “are randomly attacking” innocent citizens, knowing they often face little consequence.
Never one to mince words, Trump has called for harsher measures, urging local officials to charge minors as adults for violent crimes starting at age 14 and to ensure lengthy sentences.
His frustration with local leadership is palpable, as he threatened to federalize DC if Mayor Muriel Bowser fails to get a grip on the crime crisis gripping the city.
Bowser, for her part, has tried curfews for those under 18, but with violence persisting, it’s clear to many that half-measures won’t cut it against such brazen lawlessness.
The White House confirmed this federal crackdown to The Post, with an administration official noting residents should expect “an increase in federal enforcement” as soon as Friday.
National Guard vehicles were already spotted outside the DC Armory on Thursday morning, a visible sign of preparations, while the FBI and Department of Homeland Security are also gearing up to send personnel, according to CNN reports.
“Washington, DC is an amazing city, but it has sadly been plagued by petty and violent crime for far too long,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, capturing the administration’s resolve to turn the tide.
This deployment aligns with Trump’s “Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful” executive order, signed on March 28, which launched a task force to combat crime and curb illegal immigration in the capital.
The order directs collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Department to boost officer recruitment and retention, tackle fare evasion on the metro, and station more police in high-crime zones—an ambitious plan to reclaim DC’s streets.
As Leavitt added, Trump is “committed to making our Nation’s capital safer” for everyone, a promise that resonates with those tired of dodging danger in a city meant to symbolize American strength.
