Trump names Real America’s Voice reporter who wore ‘F*** Joe Biden’ shirt to White House press post

President Trump has named a 24-year-old conservative reporter who once posed with a rifle in a “F*** Joe Biden” shirt as assistant press secretary, a hire that matches his unapologetic communications style.

Beni Rae Harmony announced Friday she is joining the White House press team after covering the administration as senior White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice. White House principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly confirmed the move and praised her record.

The Independent reported that anti-MAGA accounts on Instagram quickly dug up a 2021 photo of Harmony holding a rifle while wearing the blunt anti-Biden shirt, citing The Daily Beast. The image came from a post by former Virginia Republican congressional candidate Jarome Bell.

That old photo will dominate the usual cable outrage cycle. It does not change the job description. Trump is stocking his communications shop with people who already spoke to voters the left prefers to lecture.

Kelly calls her a trusted MAGA voice

Kelly did not hedge.

White House principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said:

"Beni Rae Harmony has been a trusted voice for the MAGA movement as a White House correspondent. She will be an outstanding addition to President Trump’s communications team as an assistant press secretary. We look forward to having her on board."

Harmony answered with gratitude and a clear mission statement of her own.

In her announcement she wrote:

"It's been an honor to report, travel, and cover this historic administration as Senior White House Correspondent for Real America's Voice. My goal has always been to ask questions that matter to real Americans and make sure their voices are heard. I'm incredibly grateful to President Trump for this opportunity and his trust."

The hire follows an August staff shakeup that included the departure of former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Harmony, already known inside the building as a traveling correspondent, fills a slot on the communications team with someone who has worked the beat from the other side of the rope line.

Rifle photo and the 2021 campaign post

The 2021 Instagram post that critics waved around was not subtle. Bell, then running for Congress in the Virginia Beach area in 2022, captioned the photo of Harmony:

“My campaign Public Affairs Director @beniraeharmony is a beast. This is how we roll.”

Harmony liked the post. She was serving as his campaign public affairs director. The shirt’s message was crude, and it was also a plain expression of the frustration millions of voters voiced about the Biden years, inflation, border chaos, and a White House that talked down to the country.

Beltway media will treat the shirt as the story. Voters who lived through those years will recognize the sentiment even if they would not wear the same cotton.

Turning Point roots and a Kirk tribute that cost her a local job

Harmony’s paper trail is solidly conservative. She worked at Turning Point USA in 2020 and 2021, the youth organization long tied to Charlie Kirk. Her LinkedIn profile lists internships for Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar and then-Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.

She later worked at WICS-ABC20 in Springfield, Illinois. Harmony said she left for Real America’s Voice after the station suspended her for an unprompted on-air tribute to Kirk following his 2025 assassination. She called the memorial “non-partisan” and described Kirk as a “mentor.”

Local management treated a dead mentor as a workplace violation. A national conservative network hired her. Then the White House did. That sequence says more about institutional media than it does about her judgment.

Real America’s Voice beat and Air Force One travel

At Real America’s Voice, the network that airs Steve Bannon’s weekday show, The Charlie Kirk Show, and Ted Nugent’s Spirit Campfire, Harmony covered the administration as a senior White House correspondent. She traveled with the press pool and was on Air Force One during the Ireland trip last month. Reporting around the hire noted she may have caught the president’s eye on that flight.

She is 24. She has already worked Capitol Hill offices, a national conservative youth group, a local ABC affiliate, a right-of-center network, and the White House travel beat. The new title makes official what her résumé already showed: she is a movement journalist moving into the administration’s own shop.

What the left calls extreme, voters call plain speech

Critics will frame the rifle photo and the shirt as proof of radicalism. The actual record shows a young conservative who worked for elected Republicans, helped a Virginia campaign, paid tribute to a slain mentor, and asked questions on camera for an audience the legacy networks ignore.

Trump’s team is not hiring for the approval of the same outlets that spent years softening Biden’s decline and policing language while the border and prices ran hot. Kelly’s statement called Harmony a “trusted voice for the MAGA movement.” That is the point of the hire, not a bug.

Press aides exist to explain the president’s case, push back on bad-faith framing, and speak in language normal people use. A correspondent who already did that work for Real America’s Voice is a logical pick. An old T-shirt does not disqualify her from defending an agenda voters already endorsed.

Washington still confuses blunt speech with disqualification. The country moved on. The White House just staffed accordingly.
