A social media company founded by former President Donald Trump expands its reach into the American financial sector.

According to CNBC, Trump Media shares experienced a 6.8% surge following their announcement of a new financial services division called Truth.Fi, which will offer investment vehicles, including cryptocurrencies and ETFs.

The company plans to allocate up to $250 million for the initiative, with Charles Schwab serving as custodian and strategic advisor. This expansion marks Trump Media's third major venture, following its social media platform Truth Social and a television streaming service.

Conservative banking concerns drive new financial venture

President Trump recently confronted major banking institutions about their alleged discrimination against conservatives. During his remote appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he specifically challenged Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan regarding claims of conservative customer lockouts. The confrontation extended to JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, highlighting growing tensions between Republican supporters and traditional banking institutions.

State attorneys general have formally complained about major banks allegedly discriminating against customers based on religious and political affiliations. Banking institutions have consistently denied these allegations of wrongdoing. The cryptocurrency community, which has shown strong support for Trump during his presidential campaign, has expressed similar concerns about debanking practices.

These developments occur amid increasing friction between conservative groups and mainstream financial institutions. The Truth.Fi initiative appears positioned as a direct response to these ongoing disputes, offering alternative financial services for conservative investors.

Trump Media aims to strengthen the patriot economy through investments

Former California congressman and Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes outlined the company's vision for Truth.Fi. He emphasized the platform's role in protecting conservative investors from perceived threats of cancellation and censorship.

Nunes stated:

Truth.Fi is a natural expansion of the Truth Social movement. We began by creating a free-speech social media platform, added an ultra-fast TV streaming service, and now we're moving into investment products and decentralized finance.

The new financial division will focus on American growth, manufacturing, and energy companies that align with their patriot economy vision. This strategic direction comes shortly after the launch of Trump memecoin, which generated substantial paper gains for the Trump Organization and its affiliates.

The company's expansion might position it as a competitor to Elon Musk's X platform, which recently partnered with Visa for its own financial services expansion. Musk, who serves as a close advisor to President Trump, is pursuing similar diversification strategies in the financial sector.

Strategic expansion reshapes Trump Media portfolio

Trump Media announced this significant move into financial services with Truth Social's parent company shares trading under the DJT ticker. The former president maintains indirect ownership of 114,750,000 shares through a revocable trust, demonstrating substantial financial interest in the venture's success.

The initiative represents a strategic expansion from social media into financial services, with a particular focus on conservative investors. Truth.Fi's launch, expected later this year, will introduce various investment products and services designed to serve what the company identifies as underserved conservative investors.

The development signals Trump Media's evolution from a social media company to a broader digital services provider. By partnering with established financial institutions like Charles Schwab while maintaining its distinct political identity, the company aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for conservative investors.
