Trump Goes Ballistic After Questions of His Age Arise in WSJ

 September 11, 2023

Joe Biden has been getting hammered over his age in recent surveys.

A recent Wall Street Journal Poll also asked those being surveyed about Donald Trump's age, and the results were not exactly to Trump's liking.

Talking Points…

  • The Poll
  • Biden and Trump's responses
  • My Two Cents…

The Poll

One of the survey questions asked if the candidates were "too old to run for office."

Biden did horrible, with 73% of all registered voters believing he was too old to run, but Trump also took a hit on this front.

A total of 49% of voters said Trump was too old for office. His numbers were far better than Biden's, but his age is still a consideration for almost half of voters.

What is more concerning for Biden is the fact that 69% of Democrats believe he is too old.

What the Candidates are Saying

Last Monday, Joe addressed the question of his age, stating, "I'll tell you what, someone said, you know, that Biden he's getting old, man. The only thing that comes with age is a little bit of wisdom. I've been doing this longer than anybody, and guess what? I'm going to continue to do it with your help."

Trump's response was a bit more colorful. As usual, due to the fact the poll did not have numbers he liked, he called it a "probably rigged" poll.

Trump, on Truth Social, posted:

“In a phony and probably rigged Wall Street Journal poll, coming out of nowhere to softened the mental incompetence blow that is so obvious with Crooked Joe Biden, they ask about my age and mentality.

“Where did that come from? A few years ago I was the only one to agree to a mental acuity test, & ACED IT.

“Now that the Globalists at Fox & the WSJ have failed to push their 3rd tier candidate to success, they do this. Well, I hereby challenge Rupert Murdoch & Sons, Biden, WSJ heads, to acuity tests!”

Trump also took a shot at Fox News for what he claims is a big push for Ron DeSantis. However, the network personalities are pushing Trump far more than DeSantis, but he wants the network to push ONLY him and views anything else as disloyalty.

My Two Cents…

Joe Biden has shown clear signs of decline, so the concern about him is justified.

Trump has not changed much, and he clearly has far more energy than Biden.

If I were Trump, I would be embracing this narrative. Trump is sort of doing this, but he is turning this into a conflict when he should be taking advantage of it.

Instead of challenging the WSJ leadership to tests, tell them to sponsor testing for both himself and Biden. Openly state you are willing to take any test they can throw at you, that is, as long as Biden will agree to do the same.

This way, instead of Trump fighting the media, he gets the media to challenge and fight Biden for him on this subject. After all, if Joe is truly okay, he would have no problem agreeing to be tested, right?
