Former President Donald Trump has sparked controversy by accusing former President Barack Obama of disrupting President Joe Biden's run for re-election in 2024.
In a recent interview, Trump claimed Obama played a role in sabotaging Biden's campaign efforts, impacting his decision to drop out of the race, Fox News reported.
During "The Brian Kilmeade Show" on Fox News Radio, Trump elaborated on his views regarding the internal conflicts within the Democratic Party. According to Trump, Obama's overt credit-taking for the economic successes during his term has overshadowed Biden's efforts to campaign effectively.
Trump's criticisms followed comments made by Obama at a rally supporting current Vice President Kamala Harris, where he declared, "It was my economy." Trump argued that these remarks were harmful to Biden's image as a leader capable of running the country.
This situation culminated in Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race, following a poorly received debate performance against Trump, leading to Harris's uncontested rise as the Democratic nominee.
As campaigning heats up, Trump has taken a dim view of Harris's candidacy. "She's worse than him. I believe that. I think she'll be worse than him," he stated, comparing her unfavorably to Biden.
Meanwhile, early voting has kicked off across the United States, with Trump noting high turnout in pivotal states such as North Carolina and Georgia. "Early voting has been extraordinary so far. I would say beyond our wildest expectation," Trump commented, referencing reports from local news sources that show him leading in these areas.
Both candidates have active schedules in key battleground states, with Harris and Trump holding major campaign events in Georgia within the same week.
I watched the way he led him off the stage. And I will say what he did to Biden, I think it was terrible. They sabotaged Biden, but whether you like Biden or not, he won the nomination and then they took it away from him, and there's never been a time — there's never been a time where that's happened.
With more than 1.8 million people having already voted in Georgia alone, the states are witnessing record-breaking early voter turnout. These figures represent about 25.2% of the state's active voters, a testament to the high stakes of this election.
"I haven't taken a day off in 52 days, and now I have 13 [days left], and [Harris is] sleeping today. She's like Biden, likes to sleep a lot… I have not taken days off at all, nor should I… This is the big thing," Trump shared about his exhaustive campaign efforts.
This uncompromising approach also reflects his broader campaign message focused on urgent national recovery. "This is going to make America great again. We can't take a chance. If we don't win this race, our country is in serious jeopardy," he asserted.
The political dynamic of this election cycle presents an unusual upheaval with former allies in the Democratic Party finding themselves at odds. As Trump continues his campaign, the Democratic Party faces new challenges with Harris at the helm, all amid significant voter turnout and engagement in the election process.
