Trump Criticizes Harris After Presidential Debate

 September 13, 2024

During a recent visit to Rancho Palos Verdes, California, former President Donald Trump openly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris's performance at the presidential debate, specifically targeting her responses to questions about inflation and her previous political endeavors in California.

According to Fox News, the critical comments were made just days after the two political figures squared off at a high-stakes debate in Philadelphia.

While addressing reporters, Trump focused heavily on Harris's handling of a question about inflation, a pressing issue for many Americans. He accused her of sidestepping the question by recalling her past, which he deemed irrelevant in the context of the debate. "The first question she was given at the debate. Gave one of the dumbest answers. They were asking about pricing and would you be better off today or four years ago?" Trump commented.

Trump Highlights Own Debate Performance

As part of his critique, Donald Trump also praised his performance during the debate, sharing that despite being outnumbered, he managed to hold his ground. "I thought the debate was great, I thought I did very well, but I was fighting three people," he claimed, reflecting his perceived challenges during the debate.

Further elaborating on his experiences, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the broadcasting network, saying, "I was fighting the crazy left radical lunatics at ABC. I think, considered the worst by me, considered the worst broadcaster out there."

Trump's Strong Stance on California Politics

Trump's visit to California was not just about criticizing Vice President Harris; he also discussed broader political issues affecting the state. He condemned the leadership of both Harris and Governor Gavin Newsom, blaming them for what he perceives as California's decline. "The state of California is a mess, with people leaving and nothing's going to stop them," Trump stated.

Specifically, he criticized Harris for her approach to law enforcement during her time as district attorney in San Francisco, particularly her decision to not pursue the death penalty in a high-profile police officer murder case.

"Kamala refused to seek the death penalty for a gang member who murdered San Francisco Police Officer Isaac Espinoza during a traffic stop, a very innocent traffic stop. She didn't have the decency to call his family, never did, to explain her decision," Trump recounted.

Political Repercussions and Public Perception

This criticism points to deeper issues of public safety and justice, areas where Trump has frequently positioned himself as strictly law-and-order. He highlighted the lack of endorsement from the San Francisco Police Officers Association for Harris, citing her decisions on crime and punishment as the reason.

"This was a major reason why the San Francisco Police Officers Association has refused to endorse her in every single race since she became district attorney. The police don't endorse her, and she's got virtually no endorsements now," he claimed.

Trump's speeches in California underscore a direct appeal to prevent what he describes as the adverse impacts of liberal policies on the rest of America. "I'm here today in California with a very simple message for the American people — we cannot allow Comrade Kamala Harris and the Communist left to do to America what they did to California," he said.

As Trump continues to portray California as a cautionary tale, his remarks reflect an ongoing narrative that seeks to influence voter perception as debates intensify and the political landscape becomes more polarized in the lead-up to elections.

On the heels of the debate and subsequent public appearances, both Trump and Harris are sharpening their strategies and rhetoric, setting the stage for a contentious electoral season. The fallout from these interactions and the public's reception of the arguments presented will likely play a significant role in shaping the upcoming electoral decisions.
