Trump attorney Alina Habba is not yet done representing Donald Trump.
Even though she failed horribly in Trump's civil cases, Trump has decided to add Habba to his campaign team as a senior adviser.
Talking Points…
- Habba the attorney
- Habba added as a senior campaign adviser
- Analysis
Many people do not realize this, but Habba has been employed as Trump's attorney since 2017. The first case she ever worked for Trump was a 2017 case when Trump was sued for defamation by Summer Zervos. Trump called Zervos a "liar" when she accused him of groping her without her consent when she was on "The Apprentice." Trump countersued, and Zervos eventually dropped her suit.
More recently, Habba represented Trump in the E. Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit, where Trump got his clock cleaned after the jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million. Habba made national headlines during that trial for having been rebuked several times by Judge Kaplan. Habba was also criticized for her postings on social media during this time, appearing more interested in becoming a social media influencer than an attorney.
Habba, who had little to no election experience, will now serve as a senior campaign adviser for Trump's re-election campaign. The news broke on Thursday, stunning just about everyone.
Habba dove right into her new role, appearing on Fox News to explain her new role as well as give a preview of what Donald Trump would be talking about during his speech at the convention. Habba was pictured as Trump entered the convention for his speech. Asked how she felt at that moment, she responded:
"Moved, I think, is the best word for it. I was moved. I think America could see it's a different President Trump today.
"I never in my life thought I would live through that, let alone live through it and say, 'That's also my friend.' And that's been very difficult for me. It's traumatic, but I'm proud of him."
Habba also commented on the changes that were made to Trump's speech after the assassination attempt on him. She stated:
"Without getting into details, I will say that I think it's authentic. Everything he does is authentic, and I think that his perspective on life … has changed. Not that he wasn't already a great fighter, but I think that the country needs to hear from him in a different light.
"I just don't see how he couldn't, because of what he actually went through. So it's going to be authentic. It's going to be genuine. And I think it's going to be what the American people need to hear."
At least one Republican was delighted to have her join Trump's campaign, that being Rep. Corey Mills (R-FL). On her being added to Trump's campaign staff, Mills stated:
"The greatest part about what she does is she doesn't speak from opinion. It's based on legal facts and procedures, and she does it in a way that's articulate, powerful and gorgeous to boot.
"Brains and beauty is a dangerous combination in this game."
I am not quite as thrilled as Rep. Mills to see Habba join Trump's campaign. I don't think she comes off as very intelligent when she speaks, and her attorney skills are clearly lacking. But Trump seems quite fond of her, so who knows? Maybe she will find her calling as a campaign adviser and finally figure it out. It will be very interesting to see her role as this all plays out, but I have a feeling she will be there more to provide the media with legal analysis for hurdles the Trump campaign is facing on that front than to actually consult and advise the campaign.
