A tragic end came to the search for two-year-old Dane Paulsen, as his body was discovered in a river in Oregon.
According to the New York Post, the lengthy search concluded three miles downstream from the boy’s family home, where two-year-old Dane Paulsen's body was found in the Siletz River.
Dane had been missing since March 1, last seen around 4:30 p.m. in the front yard of his home near Highway 229. His home is perilously close to the river, only about 100 feet away.
The search for Dane involved a vast array of resources. Divers, K-9 units, drones, and even the Federal Bureau of Investigation contributed to the search efforts, reflecting the community and law enforcement’s commitment to finding the young boy.
Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, under the command of Sheriff Adam Shanks, coordinated these efforts. Alongside them, hundreds of volunteers came forward to assist, scanning the challenging terrain around the river.
An independent diver, Juan Heredia, part of the Angels Recovery Dive Team, was the one who eventually located Dane’s body. He brought closure to the ten days of frantic searching that gripped the local community.

Police authorities clarified that there had been no suspicion of criminal activity regarding Dane's disappearance. Meanwhile, the intense search efforts adhered strictly to protocols for missing children, focusing on the vast natural terrain around the Paulsen residence and the expanses of Siletz River.
Ultimately, Inspector Juan Heredia’s discovery of Dane’s body brought a somber conclusion to a search that had captured national attention.
