Tim Walz ‘Misspoke’ About Hong Kong Trip

 October 2, 2024

For years, Tim Walz has referred to a trip he took to Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre.

He even referenced the trip during a formal congressional session, but it turned out it was all a lie.

Talking Points…
- Walz misrepresents military service
- Walz caught lying about the Tiananmen Square massacre
- Analysis

Walz Misrepresents Military Service

I have said this before, and I will say it again… Had Walz truthfully presented his military service, you would not have heard a word from me. Anyone who has served this country for two decades is okay with me unless they lie about their service, and that is what Walz did. He lied about his rank, he was dishonest about serving in war, and there are a lot of questions about his retirement.

For years, Walz had told people he retired from the service as a Command Sergeant Major. That is one rank away from the highest possible enlisted rank, yet he actually retired as Sergeant Major. Again, serving and being promoted to Sergeant Major is nothing to sneeze at, so why lie about a higher rank when you know it is not true?

Walz had also stated that he had carried a weapon in war, but that was also a lie. Walz was deployed during the war, but he was not stationed in a war zone, and the man has never heard a shot fired in anger. He was scheduled to, but Walz retired before his unit was deployed to a war zone, which drew the ire of many of his former battalion mates. Walz used his congressional campaign as the reason for leaving, but plenty of members still serve in Congress while active in the Guard or Reserves. Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Behrends commented on the timing of Walz's retirement, stating:

"When your country calls, you are supposed to run into battle – not the other way. He ran away. It's sad.

"He had the opportunity to serve his country, and said 'Screw you' to the United States. That's not who I would pick to run for vice president."

Walz Caught Lying About Time in China

On the eve of the vice presidential debate, a report surfaced that Tim Walz had also lied about his time in China. For years, Walz had stated that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre, even describing running into other students at the time and how they felt. Well, that was also a lie. In truth, he did not get there until months later. Walz was called out on this during the debate, and he tried to deflect away without actually answering the question. The moderators called him out, and this was his response…

So, just as I predicted, we are being told that he "misspoke" about it. But you must remember that this was not a one-time story that Walz told. He said it numerous times, including during a congressional proceeding as a matter of record, which makes him a liar.

It doesn't end there, either. Walz has also bragged about going to China "dozens" of times. Again, Walz has stated this during a congressional hearing, once stating:

"I have been to China dozens of times."

During an interview recently, Walz also told the same lie, stating, "I've been there about 30 times." But it is a lie. After Walz's travel records were checked, it was revealed that he had only been there about a dozen times, with a campaign spokesperson recently correcting the record to say that it was "closer to 15 times." Again, the excuse was that he "misspoke," the same excuse they offered up for him, mispresenting his rank.

Analysis

Listen, we have all exaggerated stories from time to time, it happens. But when you use a lie on the official record and tell the story time and time again, you are a serial liar. That is what Walz is. What bothers me the most about Walz is that he lies about very small details to make himself look better to the American people. If he is lying about these things, there are undoubtedly some whoppers in his past that we have just not uncovered yet. I want to make one more observation before I leave you…

What makes Walz any different from former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), who misrepresented his entire record to get elected? Didn't Walz do the same thing? Only he was not caught until he was chosen as Harris's VP. The man is a fraud, and we cannot allow him to be one step away from the Oval Office.
