The White House declares the signal chat leak incident resolved, supports advisor Waltz

 March 31, 2025

The White House has officially declared that it resolved an internal debacle involving a leaked Signal chat by the Trump administration.

According to Fox News, the incident revolved around a journalist mistakenly receiving information about military operations from a Signal group chat.

Karoline Leavitt, the press secretary for the Trump administration, expressed that the leak, which had caused a stir due to the accidental inclusion of journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, is no longer an ongoing issue for the White House. Jeffrey Goldberg had inadvertently received information on potential strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

An Unintended Leak

Details revealed that officials had set up the chat group to discuss sensitive military operations. Despite the breach, President Donald Trump and other officials insisted that they had not sent any classified material through the chat.

According to National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, the error was due to a mix-up in contact details. "I built the group. My job is to make sure everything’s coordinated," admitted Mike Waltz, who took full responsibility for the incident.

Karoline Leavitt also mentioned the involvement of experts provided by entrepreneur Elon Musk to reassess and prevent such incidents.

Trump and his team have dismissed the significant criticism that followed, focusing instead on their endeavors to reinforce national security.

"And the president and Mike Waltz and his entire national security team have been working together very well, if you look at how much safer the United States of America is because of the leadership of this team," stated Karoline Leavitt.

Response and Moving Forward

Despite facing scrutiny, the administration has moved to tighten its communication protocols.

"There have been steps made to ensure that something like that can never happen again, and we're moving forward," Leavitt outlined.

President Trump has also responded strongly against the negative media attention, emphasizing the success of the administration's first hundred days rather than dwelling on the mishap. He highlighted the effectiveness of the military operations and criticized the media's focus on the leak rather than the administration's accomplishments.

Continued Administration Efforts

The news of the leak initially came to light through an article written by Jeffrey Goldberg in The Atlantic on March 24. Despite the scandal, the White House remains supportive of Mike Waltz, affirming his crucial role in national security. "As the president has made it very clear, Mike Waltz continues to be an important part of his national security team," Karoline Leavitt reiterated. This sentiment shows the administration's intention to maintain its course despite the setback.

The Trump administration is keen on redirecting the public focus towards its achievements and the overall security enhancements made under its governance. This incident taught government officials a lesson in digital security, prompting them to thoroughly examine and overhaul how they communicate sensitive information.

The administration has now turned a page on this incident, with Karoline Leavitt affirming, "And this case has been closed here at the White House, as far as we are concerned." A focus on future security and successes seems to be the path forward as prescribed by current administration leaders.
