Earlier the same day, an employee from the National Weather Service (NWS) based in Lubbock identified a likely tornado southwest of Fort Stockton. This sighting raises alarms about the immediate and prospective dangers associated with such unrelenting weather patterns.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo emphasized the extreme nature of the hailstorm. It reported that northeastern parts of Concho County experienced hail up to 3 feet deep, which covered and made some roadways impassable. Consequently, these roads were closed.
