Senator Graham, in a bid to quell the initial dissent within his party, emphasized the need for a systematic assessment of the nominee rather than outright disapproval. He highlighted the potential peril of transforming the confirmation into an antagonistic witch hunt, which could overshadow the evaluative process meant to weigh the suitability of Matt Gaetz for the attorney general position.
