Senator Hawley Highlights Security Failures in Trump Shooting Incident

 July 25, 2024

In a startling disclosure, Senator Josh Hawley has come forward with evidence suggesting significant security failures at the event where former President Donald Trump was shot.

Based on whistleblower testimonies, flaws such as abandoned posts and broken communication marked the security protocol during the rally, The Western Journal reported.

At the heart of this controversy is the assertion that law enforcement officials had initially been stationed at the American Glass Research Building—the location from which former President Donald Trump was shot.

Republican Senator Josh Hawley voiced significant concerns over the lapses, which contradicted statements from former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle regarding the feasibility of deploying officers on the building's sloped rooftop.

Cheatle had explained to a House panel the Monday following the incident that positioning officers on the sloped roof posed safety risks. However, as disclosed by Senator Hawley, whistleblower accounts challenge this narrative, depicting a premeditated security arrangement that was not followed through on the day of the rally.

Whistleblowers Outline Neglect in Security Duties

According to the whistleblowers, the officers who should have been monitoring the rooftop and the building perimeter withdrew because of the extreme heat.

This oversight was critical in leaving former President Trump vulnerable to the attack from an elevated position.

Colonel Christopher Paris from the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed in a testimony on Tuesday following the incident that two officers had left their posts to respond to a suspicious activity report.

This diversion was part of a series of miscommunications that plagued the event's security detail, as further stated by whistleblowers.

Senator Hawley provided a broad account of the claims presented to him, indicating systemic failures. He revealed that the assigned security personnel neglected their responsibilities: "Whistleblowers tell me law enforcement personnel were STATIONED to the roof the day of the Trump rally but abandoned it, citing the heat," said Hawley.

Debate Over Security Policies in Crucial Locations

The Senator criticized the oversight as unprofessional and dangerous, further questioning the adequacy of the follow-up investigation, which, in his words, was dismissive of genuine security concerns. He voiced his dissatisfaction with handling the matter during the panel discussions, emphasizing a need for more rigorous scrutiny.

The whistleblower further alleges that concerns over the heat prompted law enforcement to forego patrolling Building Six and instead to station security personnel inside the building. And what this whistleblower tells my office is that there was at least one law M minister forces breaking individual assigned to the roof itself.

In contradiction to Director Cheatle's earlier assertion, the whistleblowers suggest that there was indeed a plan for continuous law enforcement presence on the rooftop. These accounts highlight not only a breakdown in following established security protocols but also in the internal communication among the teams entrusted with the safety of the assembly.

Senator Calls for Enhancing Oversight of Security Processes

"All of these whistleblowers who've now come forward to my office, saying things like law enforcement was assigned to be on the roof, and they weren't. They were assigned to be patrolling the perimeter of that building, and they weren't. They were supposed to communicate over a common radio frequency, and they weren't," said Senator Hawley, advocating for more robust and transparent security measures at high-profile events.

In closing, the tensions highlight the urgent need to revisit and potentially overhaul security protocols for political gatherings and rallies.

The incident and subsequent revelations expose gaps that could undermine public trust in protective agencies and endanger public figures.

Hawley, supported by whistleblower testimonies, is leading a significant push for a comprehensive review and reform of security practices to prevent such oversights in the future.
