Earlier today, I was informed by my attorney, Steve Romines, that all charges were formally dismissed regarding the incident outside of Valhalla Golf Club on May 17. As I stated previously, this was an unfortunate misunderstanding. I hold no ill will toward Officer Gillis. I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same. Police officers have a difficult front-line job, and I hold them in high regard. This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation.
Furthermore, Scottie Scheffler took a moment to redirect attention towards a somber note. Around the same time as his legal turmoil, an incident claimed the life of another individual, John Mills, in close proximity to where Scheffler was arrested.

As the Jefferson County Attorney and the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) concluded that the sequence of events did not warrant criminal charges, the LMPD reaffirmed its dedication to combating violent crime in the area.
