Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave a stirring commentary on President Donald Trump's bold measures against China.

According to Breitbart, Marco Rubio delved into the actions taken by President Trump against China, focusing on imposing significant trade tariffs during his appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Rubio, in his role as the Secretary of State, engaged in a detailed discussion about how President Trump confronted China's economic strategies, which he described as long-standing and unfairly skewed against U.S. and other global markets.

Trump's Tariffs: A Strong Response to China's Trade Practices

The Secretary pointed out that President Trump has instituted a 145% tariff on goods imported from China. This substantial tariff was a direct response to what Rubio labeled China's "outrageously unfair trade practices."

These practices, according to Rubio, allowed Chinese businesses unfettered access to U.S markets while American companies faced severe limitations in China. He argued that such asymmetry has not only affected the U.S. but also troubled trade relations globally, notably in Europe and Canada.

Global Impact of China's Restricted Market Access

During the interview, the conversation turned towards the broader implications of China's trade maneuvers. Rubio emphasized that these trade issues had festered for decades and criticized past administrations for not addressing them sooner.

Furthermore, he illustrated how China's approach to international trade had caused significant concerns worldwide, attempting to monopolize various markets, including the electric car sector in Europe.

Rubio on NBC's "Meet the Press": "President Donald Trump was the first president to stand up to China’s 'outrageously unfair trade practices.'"

Rubio Discusses the High Stakes of the Trade Negotiations

The host, Kristen Welker, questioned Rubio about Trump’s communication with Chinese President Xi Jinping, particularly after the new tariffs imposed. Rubio chose not to divulge specifics about these high-level talks, emphasizing the complex and sensitive nature of the ongoing negotiations.

Well, I mean, just like the previous answer, I am not going to commenting on who talked to who and what they talked about because this is a high stakes negotiation. The fundamental fact is this, for 30 something years the Chinese have got away with unfair trade practices ad not just unfair, outrageously unfair trade practices. Very simple, Chinese companies can do whatever they want in America. American companies can only do what the Chinese allow them to do in China and it’s very limited and every year it’s more and more limited. They flood not just us, they flood the world with exports, but they push back against any imports.

Rubio's comments made it clear that the Trump administration views the trade imbalance with China as a critical issue that demands immediate action.

Rubio Urges Global Unity in Addressing China's Trade Tactics

Secretary Rubio also highlighted the need for a united global front against China's trade policies. He mentioned concerns raised by other nations, including Canada, about China's aggressive tactics to dominate various trade sectors. Unfair advantages have allowed Chinese companies to exploit these markets, detrimentally impacting economies worldwide and undermining fair trade practices.

According to Rubio, "It’s not just us that needs to be standing up to it, by the way, Europe is concerned about the number electric cars China tried to dump on them. China has had trade problems with Canada and others, and this needs to stop. The bottom line is the president is dealing with something that should have been dealt with a very long time ago, and it is almost too late."

In summary, Secretary of State Marco Rubio's discussion on "Meet the Press" highlighted President Donald Trump's decisive actions to rectify trade imbalances with China. This included implementing hefty tariffs as a countermeasure against what critics have called severely unfair practices by China, affecting many global markets. The conversation also emphasized the urgency and critical need for a cohesive global approach to confront and correct these disparities.
