RKF Jr Facing Disqualification After Failing To Name VP

 March 25, 2024

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential aspirations are hitting a snag in Nevada.

Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faces significant obstacles in securing a spot on Nevada's ballot for the 2024 general election due to a delay in announcing a vice presidential running mate.

According to Daily Mail, Kennedy's bid to appear on the crucial swing state's ballot is currently stalled, pending the unveiling of his vice presidential choice. This hiccup underscores independent candidates' complexities in navigating electoral regulations across different states.

Kennedy's campaign has amassed over 15,000 signatures—a feat that will be nullified if his vice-presidential slot remains vacant. Through Deputy Secretary of State for Elections Mark Wlaschin, the state of Nevada has mandated that independent candidates name a vice-presidential nominee. This directive has placed Kennedy's campaign under scrutiny and pressured them to comply swiftly to maintain his electoral viability.

Speculation Surrounds Kennedy's VP Choice

As the political world watches, Kennedy is poised to announce Nicole Shanahan as his running mate. The expectation of this announcement has sparked considerable interest and speculation, drawing attention to Kennedy's independent run. Such a move would resolve the ballot issue in Nevada and signal Kennedy's readiness to advance his campaign strategy in earnest.

Independent campaigns face stern tests in achieving national ballot access, and Kennedy's experience is emblematic of these challenges. Despite officially securing a spot in Utah and working towards recognition in New Hampshire and Hawaii, the broader obstacle remains clear: navigating the disparate and often stringent state-specific requirements for independent candidates.

Kennedy's political journey took a notable turn last October when he shifted his focus from the Democratic primary to an independent general election campaign. This decision underscored his determination to forge a path outside the traditional party system despite the inherent hurdles such a choice entails.

Democratic Party Critics and Ballot Battles

Kennedy's campaign and its associated super PAC, American Values 2024, have been at the center of controversy. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has accused them of illegal coordination and manipulative tactics in ballot access efforts. The DNC's allegations add a layer of political intrigue to Kennedy's independent bid.

Paul Rossi, Kennedy’s campaign ballot access attorney, strongly criticized the DNC's actions and the Nevada Secretary of State's office in a poignant statement. He accused them of corruption and overreach.

This is the epitome of corruption, and The DNC Goon Squad and their lackeys in the Nevada Secretary of State's office are outright inventing a new requirement for the petition with zero legal basis. The Nevada statute does not require the VP on the petition. The petition does not even have a field for a VP on it. The state confirmed that the petition does not require a VP in writing on Nov. 14. The state approved our petition without a VP on it in writing on Jan. 9. This assault on the democratic rights of millions of Americans in Nevada, and their freedom to vote for an independent candidate, embodies the corruption and depravity that has come to characterize the Democratic Party.

Kennedy has not shied away from critiquing the DNC, particularly after internal controversies and a critical report about President Biden. His sharp rebuke of the party's actions reflects a broader condemnation of the current political and electoral landscape.

A Campaign for Independence and Integrity

As Kennedy prepares to announce his vice-presidential running mate from Oakland, California, the political community awaits further developments in this unconventional presidential campaign. The announcement, expected to clarify Kennedy's running mate, is a pivotal moment for his campaign and its efforts to ensure representation on Nevada's ballot.

In summary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign as an independent candidate depicts the complexities and barriers within the U.S. electoral system. From the challenges of ballot access across various states to the political skirmishes with the Democratic establishment, Kennedy's bid embodies both the struggle and resilience of independent political movements. As he prepares to reveal his vice-presidential choice, the future course of his campaign looms large, holding implications for the broader political landscape in the 2024 general election.
