Hunter Biden is facing serious allegations from Republican lawmakers claiming he misled Congress concerning foreign business affairs.
According to Breitbart News, the House Ways and Means Committee has accused Hunter Biden of exploiting his family's political status for personal financial benefits following an investigation involving IRS whistleblower documents.
The investigation has unearthed documents alleging that Hunter Biden provided false statements about his involvement with Rosemont Seneca Bohai, where he was reportedly the "acting Secretary." Despite his claims to the contrary, documents indicate his greater involvement with the company, contradicting his deposition statements.
Further accusations center on his dealings with CEFC China Energy Co. Republican probes suggest that Hunter used his father's stance to gain favor in business transactions with Chinese entities. Specifically, his communications with Raymond Zhao purportedly show an attempt to leverage his family's influence.
Jason Smith, the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, emphasized the gravity of the allegations, noting that lying under oath is a felony. He stressed that the justice system must hold everyone accountable, regardless of their connections.
"Lying during sworn testimony is a felony offense that the Department of Justice has prosecuted numerous individuals for in recent years, and the American people expect the same accountability for the son of the President of the United States," he remarked.
Before he complied, Biden initially resisted a subpoena, which led to a threat of criminal contempt. Some lawmakers view this resistance as indicative of his overall lack of cooperation with congressional mandates.
The oversight into Hunter Biden's business dealings began in 2022, revealing that multiple Biden family members benefitted financially from foreign business ventures. Despite Hunter's denial of serving as a corporate secretary for Rosemont Seneca Bohai, the evidence presented by the IRS whistleblowers includes a corporate resolution signed by him in that very capacity.
Further disputes involve his communication with Raymond Zhao. Despite Hunter Biden's denials regarding the nature of their communications, the Oversight Committee provided evidence from phone records confirming that Zhao was aware of and engaged in the discussions pertinent to the CEFC dealings.

Hunter also claimed that the Zhao he was messaging on WhatsApp was not the same Zhao connected to CEFC. According to phone records released today, Hunter only communicated with one 'Zhao' – Raymond Zhao – in the exchange we asked about. Not only did the same Zhao respond, but his message thread indicates he knew exactly what Hunter Biden was talking about. Hunter went on to message the 'Zhao' phone number for months regarding matters related to CEFC.
Devon Archer, who was associated with Hunter Biden in business ventures, elaborated on the role of Rosemont Seneca Bohai. According to Archer, Bohai Harvest Rosemont primarily functioned as a private equity fund, and Rosemont Seneca Bohai was crucial for holding the equity of BHR. This description adds layers to the functionality and purpose of the entities in question.
