REPORT: RFK Jr. Offering Endorsement for Cabinet Post

 August 16, 2024

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign has all but imploded at this point, barely registering 5% support after seeing more than 12% early in the race.

Reports are now breaking that Kennedy has allegedly put his endorsement up for the highest bidder, with him dropping out in exchange for a cabinet post.

Talking Points…
- Kennedy starting to fade
- Endorsement up for sale

Kennedy Campaign Starting to Fizzle Out

When this election first started, Kennedy was turning into a legitimate threat. If memory serves, he hit the ground at around 9% and only went up from there, peaking at around 12% and doing significantly better in some of the battleground states. Since that one big push, however, Kennedy has stumbled, mostly because of self-inflicted wounds.

Right now, on the national average, Kennedy is down to 5.1%, while Harris has extended her lead over Trump, 46.3-43.6%. In looking at battleground states, Kennedy is pulling 5.1% in Arizona, 3.4% in Georgia, 5.4% in Michigan, 4.3% in Pennsylvania, and 4.3% in Wisconsin.

Kennedy had a couple of self-inflicted wounds as well, which have hurt him even more, the most recent being that he had staged the death of a bear cub in Central Park several years ago. It is just pure stupidity on Kennedy’s part, making me believe he is not a serious candidate any longer.

Endorsement Up for Sale

With his star fading and his ballot entry in New York being denied, Kennedy is no longer a real threat, but he still does have some influence, and with many of the battleground states still a coinflip, his small percentage could be enough to put someone over the top.

To that point, it is now being reported that Kennedy is willing to barter for his endorsement, offering it up for a cabinet position. The Washington Post broke the story, claiming that Kennedy tried to schedule a meeting with Harris to make a deal. The Harris camp has not responded, nor do they seem very interested in his proposal.

After the report surfaced, Kennedy went into damage control, denying that he had any interest at all in joining Kamala’s campaign. He immediately posted on X:

“VP Harris’s Democratic Party would be unrecognizable to my father and uncle and I cannot reconcile it with my values.

“The Democratic Party of RFK and JFK was the party of civil liberties and free speech. VP Harris‘s is the party of censorship, lockdowns, and medical coercion.”

He concluded:

“I’ve spent years battling government corruption and lies. VP Harris spent years gaslighting Americans about the health of our Commander in Chief.

“I have no plans to endorse Kamala Harris for President. I do have a plan to defeat her.”

Analysis

I am not a fan of anonymously sourced stories, but it would not surprise me one bit if Kennedy was shopping around his endorsement to be added to a cabinet. His campaign is clearly going nowhere, so why not get something out of it and possibly join an administration where he can actually accomplish something?

Harris would make the most sense, but I could also see him being added to some position by Trump if Trump thought it would get him over the hump. The problem for Trump right now is that he is running out of time. Harris has all the momentum, and early voting will start in just a few weeks. If Trump does not figure out a way to flip this soon, he will be handing this election to Harris.
