 July 3, 2024

An absolutely shocking report has come out of the White House this week.

First son and convicted felon, Hunter Biden, has reportedly joined Biden's staff as an adviser.

Hunter Biden Conviction and Upcoming Trial

As most of you already know, Hunter was convicted just a few weeks ago on gun charges, with sentencing in a few weeks. If the judge really wants to throw the book at Hunter, he faces more than two decades in jail and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. I doubt that will happen, as Hunter will likely be treated as a first-time offender since Joe Biden managed to get him out of legal troubles in the past.

Hunter still has a tax evasion case, where Joe Biden's DOJ will be going after Hunter for having avoided taxes on more than $1 million in income during his drug and alcohol abuse days.

With sentencing pending in one case and another trial to come, facing off against Biden's DOJ, one would not expect Hunter Biden to be sitting in on key White House meetings. However, if an NBC News report is accurate, that is exactly what has happened this week.

Hunter Joining Meetings

On Sunday, it was reported that the entire Biden clan was at Camp David to discuss Biden's future in the presidential election. There was significant fallout from the disastrous debate that Joe Biden had last week against Donald Trump, with some Democrats now openly calling for Joe Biden to step down. Reports had the Camp David discussions centering around Biden remaining in the race and developing a strategy to recover from the debate and win the election.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Hunter Biden was among those pushing Joe Biden to remain in the race, which I fully expected. Hunter wants Daddy in the Oval Office to protect him in these trials and sentencing. It is his only hope of staying out of real trouble if convicted. But I doubt anyone expected Joe Biden to be stupid enough to add Hunter to his formal staff and allow him to sit in on meetings.

On Tuesday, Reports broke on NBC News that Hunter was doing just that. While Hunter is often at the White House, sitting in on meetings with White House aides and advisers is not commonplace. According to the report, White House staff reacted, "What the hell is happening?"

Mike Howell, the executive director of the Oversight Project at the Heritage Foundation, also had a reaction, stating:

"It's just a pure and simple massive interest in his dad staying president so he can pardon not only Hunter, but Joe and the rest of the family for the crimes they committed, and probably Merrick Garland, too, for his role in the cover-up."

White House spokesman Andrew Bates tried to downplay the report, saying that Hunter was only there to help Joe Biden with speech prep after Biden and his family returned from Camp David. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also downplayed Hunter being at the White House, simply stating that Joe Biden is "is very close to his family." That would be with everyone but his granddaughter, Navy Roberts, who Biden has ignored since birth. Jean-Pierre later added:

"This is a holiday week, 4th of July.

"He spent time with his family, as you all know, and reported at Camp David. Hunter came back with him and walked with him into that meeting, that prep, that speech prep."

Analysis

The aesthetics of this are not good for Joe Biden, who is already behind the eight ball with the American people after his debate. Biden cannot afford any missteps right now, but I think most people would consider having a defendant on trial against your DOJ a conflict of interest and not an intelligent decision. But then again, we know Joe Biden is not the one who is really calling the shots right now. I fully expect the GOP to pounce on this to dominate the news cycle as we head into the holiday.
