REPORT: DOJ Prosecutors Limited Scope in Hunter Biden Investigation

 December 14, 2023

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf has been subpoenaed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee for closed-door testimony.

According to reports, Wolf was instrumental in limiting the scope of questions during the Hunter Biden investigation to ensure that Joe Biden was not tied to Hunter's business interests.

The Hunter Biden Investigation

There are two cases against Hunter Biden right now: gun charges and tax charges. In the latter, it would appear that investigators were purposely limiting the scope of the investigation to protect Joe Biden.

One of the investigating prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf, appears to have protected Joe Biden, either purposely or to make her job easier, by not expanding the scope to include Joe in the investigation. We should also note Wolf is no longer working for the DOJ, having recently resigned from her position.

This is the same case where multiple whistleblowers came forward from the IRS to say that certain paths they would normally take in an investigation were shot down.

Protecting Joe Biden

Gary Shapley, who led the IRS' portion of the Hunter Biden probe, and Joseph Ziegler were the two whistleblowers who came forward in the case.

According to Shapley, Wolf restricted any part of the investigation that referenced Joe Biden specifically, "dad," or "the big guy," as Biden has been referred to in some communications.

When it got to the point for a search warrant to be issued, Wolf " agreed that probable cause had been achieved," but Wolf had also determined that there was "enough probable cause for the physical search warrant there, but the question was whether the juice was worth the squeeze."

Shapley further stated that Wolf told him that "optics were a driving factor in the decision on whether to execute a search warrant." Shapley continued on that Wolf told him:

"A lot of evidence in our investigation would be found in the guest house of former Vice President Biden, but said there is no way we will get that approved."

Analysis

If the whistleblower testimony is accurate, and we have zero reason to believe that it is not, there were clearly some orders given by the higher-ups that, if at all possible, Joe Biden needed to be kept out of this investigation.

There were obviously some favors granted given that it was a Biden involved in this case, so I would love to see the backchannel discussions on this matter.

As a matter of fact, Hunter Biden's attorneys have requested those backchannel talks to show that there was some weaponization of the DOJ against Hunter, but I believe they will show the complete opposite… that the DOJ was trying to minimize the charges to protect both Joe and Hunter Biden.
