Rapper Lord Jamar Questions Kamala Harris's Presidential Qualifications

 October 16, 2024

In a recent candid interview, rapper and actor Lord Jamar expressed significant criticism toward Vice President Kamala Harris’s qualifications for the presidency.

In his assertions, Jamar labeled Harris as inadequately qualified to manage the needs of the United States, comparing her unfavourably to a store manager, New York Post reported.

Jamar voiced his opinions on “The Art of Dialogue,” a music podcast, where he argued that Harris was promoted by Democrats as a new version of Barack Obama, a strategy he believes failed. He criticized her for not directly answering questions during debates and accused her of habitual lying.

Public Reaction to Political Claims

Amidst his controversial comments, Jamar also revealed his leanings towards former President Donald Trump instead of Harris in the upcoming election, explaining a shift in his political support due to his disillusionment with Democratic strategies.

This decision marks a significant public shift for Jamar, who is known for his roles in “The Sopranos” and “Elementary.”

He elaborated on his decision, condemning the Democrat’s efforts to influence black voters and claiming attempts to shame him into supporting Harris. His frustration stems from what he perceives as identity politics, which he argues does not substitute for substantive political debate or legitimate qualifications.

Doubts Over Democratic Strategy

Jamar criticized the efforts to portray Trump as a potential dictator, calling such fears exaggerated. He pointed to Trump’s previous term to suggest that the dire predictions about his presidency did not materialize.

Lorenzo Dechalus, better known as Lord Jamar, stated:

This woman, to me, is not qualified to run, you know, a Dunkin’ Donuts or a 7-Eleven, let alone the corporation that we call the United States of America. She’s a diggy broad. She cackles all the time. She lies. She doesn’t answer a question — not once during that debate did she answer anything that was asked of her.

His staunch critique extends beyond personal disapproval, suggesting a broader dissatisfaction with current political narratives.

Broader Support for Alternative Choices

Jamar is not the only rapper to express support for Trump; several others have also voiced similar sentiments. This trend highlights a notable shift in political engagement within the hip-hop community, reflecting a wider array of political views than typically presumed.

The rapper’s comments have ignited discussions on social media, with varied reactions from the public and political commentators alike. While some agree with his views, others defend Harris and criticize Jamar for what they see as overly harsh or unfounded criticism.

Reporters contacted Harris's campaign for a response to Jamar’s comments, but they did not provide an immediate reply.

As the election approaches, endorsements and criticisms from influential figures like Jamar significantly impact the race, possibly swaying undecided voters. His remarks underscore the complex dynamics of voter behavior and the significant challenges Harris faces as she bids for the presidency.
