Outrage As Proposal Surfaces To Use 14th Amendment Against Trump

Liberal legal scholars ignite fierce debate over potential measures to prevent Donald Trump from assuming office in 2025.

According to Daily Mail, two prominent legal experts have proposed using the 14th Amendment's "oath-breaking insurrection" clause to legally reject Trump's election certification, sparking intense backlash from his supporters.

The controversial strategy, outlined by Ivy League-educated scholars Evan Davis and David Schulte in their op-ed for The Hill, suggests that Democrats could use constitutional grounds to block Trump's return to the White House. Their argument centers on Trump's alleged role in the January 6 Capitol riot, which they claim provides sufficient evidence for disqualification under the Constitution's insurrection clause.

Trump Family And Allies Launch Strong Defense Against Legal Strategy

Eric Trump took to social media platform X to denounce the proposed plan, expressing his disgust with a brief but pointed message. Elon Musk, a key adviser to the president-elect, dismissed the strategy as "crazy," characterizing legacy media as a propaganda tool for the radical left.

Conservative commentator Jerry Dunleavy condemned the proposal as potentially one of the most egregious abuses of power in American history. Trump spokesman Steven Cheung framed the situation as an attempt by Democrats to subvert the democratic process and invalidate the will of American voters.

Even former Democratic politician John Delaney distanced himself from the proposal, emphasizing that Trump's victory came through a fair democratic process. His stance highlights the division within Democratic ranks regarding the proposed strategy.

Senate Democrats Prepare Alternative Strategy Through Judicial Appointments

Chuck Schumer revealed a parallel effort to counter Trump's policies through strategic judicial appointments. The Senate Minority Leader detailed how he and President Biden prioritized confirming federal judges throughout Biden's term.

Under their concentrated effort, Biden has appointed 235 federal judges, surpassing Trump's appointments by one. Schumer emphasized that these appointments now represent 25 percent of the federal judiciary.

Conservative commentator Robby Starbuck expressed his views on the situation. He stated:

Sounds like @thehill is endorsing insurrection. Yes, try blocking the inauguration of a President who won the popular vote and the electoral college. Let's see how that goes for y'all.

Future Implications Emerge As Political Tension Intensifies

The implementation of the proposed strategy would require disrupting the election certification process on January 6, 2025. However, this appears highly unlikely as no Democratic congressional leaders have indicated support for contesting the election results.

Davis elaborated on their position in comments to Newsweek, suggesting that Democrats might consider action based on their previous impeachment vote regarding January 6. He acknowledged the intense political climate while maintaining their legal interpretation's validity.

Senator Ted Cruz addressed the controversy on his Verdict podcast, describing the professors as "numb skulls" and criticizing their reasoning. He stated:

Trump derangement syndrome is real. It is a serious mental illness. These people are freaking nuts. They hate his guts. They've lost their minds, and at this point, understand these two numb skulls and every other Democrat who engages is in fantasy about this is an election denier and an insurrectionist.

Democratic Response Shapes Constitutional Showdown

The proposed plan to block Trump's return to office through the 14th Amendment has created significant controversy within both political parties. While liberal legal scholars Davis and Schulte argue for using constitutional mechanisms to prevent Trump's presidency, their strategy faces substantial opposition from Republicans and skepticism from moderate Democrats.
