An Orlando father fatally stabbed his 17-year-old twin children before killing himself inside their apartment, Orange County deputies announced, after a neighbor’s wellness check uncovered the scene.
The New York Post reported that detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office believe Ivan Montiel Roa, 63, murdered his son Carlo Montiel Infantino and daughter Melanie Montiel Infantino before dying by suicide at the Courtney Chase Apartment Homes.
Both teens were 17. Deputies found them in the living room with multiple stab wounds. Montiel Roa was found dead in the master bedroom. The sheriff’s office has not released the time of the killings or how the father died.
A concerned neighbor called 911 for a wellness check after not seeing the family for about a week. Officials discovered the scene on Wednesday and announced the findings in a Friday news release.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office put the core conclusion in one sentence.
In the release, detectives said:
“At this time, detectives believe Ivan murdered Carlo and Melanie and then committed suicide,”
No arrests followed. All three people named in the case are dead. No motive has been stated.
Public records and the mother’s obituary show the twins’ mother, Montiel Roa’s wife, died in June. Her full name was not released in the available details. The family came from Venezuela.
Montiel Roa had worked as a realtor, according to his Facebook profile, and previously ran a construction business. That business was dissolved on Sept. 25.
Those facts do not explain the stabbings. They do show a household that had already absorbed a major death and a closed business in the months before deputies walked into the apartment.
Montiel Roa’s Facebook activity included reposts of conspiracy material and “new world order” themes. In December 2025 he posted a line that appeared to track a scene from the 2008 film “The Dark Knight.”
The post read:
“Introduce a little anarchy, alter the established order and everything turns into chaos. I am an agent of chaos,”
Sheriff’s officials have not tied that post, or any other online activity, to a formal motive. The words sit in the public record beside the detectives’ finding that he killed both children and then himself.
Florida Rep. Rita Harris lives near the Courtney Chase Apartment Homes. She issued a statement after the news release.
Harris said:
“There are no words that can make sense of a loss like this,”
She added:
“I am also thinking of the first responders and law enforcement officers who carry the weight of what they encounter in service to our community.”
The twins never reached adulthood. Their father, the person charged with protecting them, is the person deputies say ended their lives. The neighbor who finally called for a check had already gone roughly a week without seeing the family. By then the apartment held three bodies and no remaining answers about why.
A parent’s first job is to keep his children safe. When that duty collapses into the act that kills them, the damage is final and the excuses never arrive.
