A Florida father fatally stabbed his 17-year-old twins inside their Orlando apartment before taking his own life, leaving a scene deputies called murder then suicide after a neighbor’s wellness check.

Ivan Montiel Roa, 63, killed his teenage children, Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino, then died himself in what Orange County detectives described as a double murder-suicide at their home in the Courtney Chase Apartment Homes.

Police said the twins were found with multiple stab wounds in the living room. Montiel Roa was found dead in the master bedroom. Officials have not said how he killed himself or exactly when the attack happened.

A concerned neighbor dialed 911 for a wellness check after not seeing the family for about a week. Deputies discovered the bodies on Wednesday. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced the case in a news release on Friday.

“At this time, detectives believe Ivan murdered Carlo and Melanie and then committed suicide,” the sheriff’s office said.

Family losses stacked up before the killings

The twins’ mother, Montiel Roa’s wife, died in June, public records show. An obituary said the family came from Venezuela. On Sept. 25, a construction business tied to Montiel Roa was dissolved.

He listed himself as a realtor on Facebook. Online, his activity stood out for darker material. In a December 2025 post, he wrote: “Introduce a little anarchy, alter the established order and everything turns into chaos. I am an agent of chaos,” language that tracked a line from the film “The Dark Knight.” Reporting also noted he shared conspiracy theories and “new world order” material.

No motive has been released. Deputies did not detail a weapon beyond the multiple stab wounds on the teens, and they did not say when the stabbings or the father’s death occurred relative to the Wednesday discovery.

Local lawmaker mourns the teens and the first responders

Florida Rep. Rita Harris, who lives near the apartment complex, issued a public statement on the deaths.

“There are no words that can make sense of a loss like this,” Harris said. She also pointed to the burden on those who walked into the apartment: “I am also thinking of the first responders and law enforcement officers who carry the weight of what they encounter in service to our community.”

Three people are dead. There are no arrests. The subject of the investigation is deceased. The case leaves the public with a short, brutal sequence: a mother gone in June, a business closed in late September, an unsettling social-media trail, a week of silence noticed by a neighbor, and two 17-year-olds stabbed to death in their own living room before their father died in the next room.

Parents are supposed to be the last line of safety for their children. When that line collapses into violence inside the home, the cost falls first on the kids who never get another chance, and on the community left to clean up what no one stopped in time.
