Newly Revealed Footage Depicts Advance Warnings About Trump Assailant

 July 24, 2024

An assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally led to multiple casualties and showcased grave security failings.

Thomas Matthew Crooks targeted the former president, using guns and explosives before being neutralized by the Secret Service, with new footage revealing warnings made to law enforcement about his presence even before shots were fired.

Before the violence erupted, Crooks was identified as a suspicious individual by multiple individuals. His movements were closely monitored by authorities who utilized bodycam footage to trace his actions leading up to the attack. This footage showed law enforcement personnel surrounding Crooks' body on a rooftop shortly after he discharged his weapon.

Chilling Details Surface from Secret Service and Emergency Teams

According to emergency services, Crooks was last seen placing a bookbag down after arriving on a bicycle. "That’s the one who sent the original pictures and seen him come from the bike and set the bookbag down and then lost sight of him,” an officer detailed during an analysis of the scene.

The tragedy at the rally not only resulted in fatalities and injuries but also revealed premeditated intent with the discovery of a detonator and an improvised explosive device in Crooks' car trunk. Approximately 26 minutes after Crooks was observed scoping out a vantage point, chaos ensued.

During the attack, former President Trump's ear was grazed by a bullet. Despite the imminent danger, he was evacuated from the scene while rallying his supporters with a call to "fight." This statement encapsulated the tense moments of the assault.

One Victim Killed, 2 Injured in Assault

The gunfire resulted in one spectator, Corey Comperatore, age 50, losing his life in the ordeal. Two others, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, suffered critical injuries, though their conditions were later stabilized.

The event unfolded after Crooks had meticulously planned his position by crawling and strategically picking a spot near the rally's secure perimeter, around 5:45 p.m. Shortly thereafter, disaster struck, unleashing terror among the gathered crowd.

The alarming series of events prompted immediate action on the fateful day, with the Secret Service and law enforcement swiftly responding to the threat post-identification of Crooks. An emergency services officer noted, “So this is the guy,” to which a Beaver County Emergency Service unit officer confirmed, “This is him,” as they viewed body-cam footage.

Reportedly, Crooks was already on the radar of authorities shortly before the violent outbreak at the rally. Compiled footage and images obtained from his iPhone have been critical in piecing together his premeditated movements.

In the Aftermath: Reflections and Revelations

This incident came shortly ahead of Trump's acceptance of the Republican presidential nomination just days later, marking a stark contrast between a political high point and a moment of life-threatening danger.

The implications of this attack extend beyond immediate physical harm, suggesting significant potential lapses in security measures during significant political gatherings. It raises questions about the adequacy of surveillance and response strategies currently employed to protect high-profile figures.

The assault at the Pennsylvania rally not only destabilized a significant political event but also left a mark on those directly affected. It underscores the vivid reality and potential threats that continue to shadow public figures in volatile times.
