Minnesota Suspect Links Assassinations to Governor Walz in Letter

 June 22, 2025

Brace yourself for a chilling tale of violence and twisted motives straight out of Minnesota, where a suspect has turned a tragic crime into a political lightning rod.

According to Breitbart, in a shocking spree of violence, Vance Boelter stands accused of assassinating Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, while also shooting Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette, who are thankfully on the mend, only for Boelter to pin the blame on Governor Tim Walz in a bizarre confession letter.

The grim saga began in Brooklyn Park, where Hortman and her husband were tragically killed in their own home, a crime that sent shockwaves through the state. Authorities allege Boelter, dressed as a policeman, carried out this cold-blooded act before targeting Sen. Hoffman and his wife in a separate attack. It’s hard to fathom the audacity of such deception, especially when trust in uniforms should be sacred.

Uncovering a Disturbing Confession Letter

Hours after the shootings, Boelter reportedly purchased a Buick, inside which law enforcement discovered a handwritten confession letter that reads like something out of a fever dream. Described as incoherent and nearly illegible by local reports, the one-and-a-half-page note was addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel, as if that would lend it credibility. One has to wonder if this was a cry for attention or just pure delusion.

In the letter, Boelter allegedly admitted to being the “shooter at large” responsible for both incidents, a chilling confirmation of his involvement. Even more bizarre, he claimed he was instructed to target U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar so Walz could vie for a Senate seat—a conspiracy theory so outlandish it could only come from a deeply troubled mind. This kind of wild accusation against public officials demands scrutiny, not blind belief.

Boelter’s letter didn’t stop there; he also claimed to have been trained by the U.S. military “off the books,” a detail that raises eyebrows but lacks any corroboration. If true, it would point to a systemic failure, but without evidence, it’s just another layer of his unhinged narrative. Conservatives have long warned about the dangers of unchecked mental health crises, and this case might be a tragic example.

Text Messages Reveal Personal Turmoil

Adding to the unsettling picture, Boelter reportedly sent a text to his family after the shootings, declaring, “Dad went to war last night.” What kind of war was he imagining—against innocent people, against reason itself? This haunting message suggests a man detached from reality, yet it’s no excuse for the lives lost.

In another text to his wife, Boelter wrote, “Words are not gonna explain how sorry I am for this situation.” He went on to warn her about armed individuals coming to their home, urging her to stay away for safety. While this shows a flicker of remorse, it’s cold comfort to the victims and their families who are left picking up the pieces.

Let’s not ignore the political undertones Boelter tried to weave into his rampage, with flyers for anti-Trump “No Kings” protests found in his car. The Minnesota State Patrol wisely cautioned against attending such events, likely fearing further unrest. It’s a stark reminder that divisive rhetoric—on any side—can inspire dangerous actions when it falls into unstable hands.

Governor Walz’s Alleged Connection Questioned

Perhaps the most explosive claim is Boelter’s assertion that Governor Walz was somehow behind this tragedy, a connection that is also tied to a reported appointment to the state’s Workforce Development Board in 2019. Hennepin County Attorney spokesperson Daniel Borgertpoepping countered with, “We will state only that we have seen no evidence that the allegations regarding Governor Walz are based in fact.” That’s a polite way of saying there’s nothing to this accusation, yet it’s worth asking why Boelter fixated on Walz at all.

Skeptics of progressive leadership might raise an eyebrow at any past association between Walz and Boelter, but without hard proof, it’s just speculation. The last thing Minnesota needs is a witch hunt when the focus should be on justice for the victims. Still, transparency from the governor’s office would go a long way to quash lingering doubts. After a tense statewide manhunt, Boelter was finally captured in Green Isle, nearly 60 miles from the initial crime scene in Brooklyn Park. The distance shows just how desperate he was to evade accountability, but thankfully, law enforcement’s diligence paid off. It’s a small victory in a story drenched in loss.

A Community Grapples with Tragedy

The aftermath of these shootings leaves Minnesota reeling, with two lives senselessly taken and two others forever altered. The recovery of Sen. Hoffman and his wife offers a glimmer of hope, but the pain of Hortman’s and her husband’s deaths cuts deep. Communities deserve safety, not fear of such random, brutal acts.

Boelter’s actions, coupled with his bizarre justifications, highlight a troubling intersection of mental instability and political obsession. While his claims against Walz appear unfounded, they underscore how easily unhinged individuals can latch onto public figures as scapegoats. It’s a cautionary tale for a polarized age—disagreement is fine, but violence is never the answer.

As this case unfolds, the priority must remain on honoring the victims and supporting the survivors, not on fueling conspiracy theories or political agendas. Minnesota has endured a dark chapter, but its people are resilient, and justice will be sought. Let’s hope the truth shines through the fog of Boelter’s ramblings, bringing some measure of peace to those who suffer most.
