Michigan Democrat Stevens pushes impeachment over RFK Jr.'s health policies

 September 25, 2025, NEWS

Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., has just dropped a bombshell by announcing plans to draft articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Fox News reported that Stevens is pointing fingers at Kennedy for what she calls "health care chaos," skyrocketing costs, and a slew of controversial policy moves, making this a high-stakes showdown in Washington.

Earlier this year, on May 6, 2025, Stevens took her grievances public at a National Breast Cancer Coalition rally outside the U.S. Capitol, lambasting Kennedy for slashing funds to vital research areas like cancer and infant death syndrome.

Stevens Slams Kennedy's Funding Cuts

She didn’t stop there, accusing Kennedy of restricting access to vaccines, a move that’s got many conservatives scratching their heads over government overreach versus personal choice.

Stevens also claimed Kennedy has politicized the FDA and shut down public input on HHS rulemaking, which, if true, smells like the kind of bureaucratic power grab conservatives often warn against.

Adding fuel to the fire, she criticized Kennedy for firing CDC Director Susan Monarez, a decision that’s already drawn scrutiny and raised questions about leadership stability at a critical agency.

Kennedy Accused of Spreading Conspiracies

Stevens went so far as to call out Kennedy for spreading what she termed "absurd conspiracies" that endanger lives, a charge that’s tough to swallow without specifics but plays into broader progressive narratives against dissenting voices.

She also alleged Kennedy lied during his confirmation hearings, particularly about promises not to disrupt the CDC’s independent vaccine panel, which, if proven, could undermine trust in his leadership—something conservatives value deeply.

Stevens isn’t alone in her crusade; she’s joined by several fellow Democrats demanding Kennedy step down, though one wonders if this is more partisan theater than genuine concern for public health.

White House Stands by Kennedy

Just days ago, on September 22, 2025, President Donald Trump and Kennedy appeared side by side in the White House’s Roosevelt Room, a visual reminder of the administration’s backing amid this political storm.

In response to the impeachment threat, HHS communications director Andrew Nixon stated that Kennedy "remains focused on the work of improving Americans’ health and lowering costs, not on partisan political stunts." Well, that’s a polite way to say “take a hike” to the critics, but it sidesteps the meat of Stevens’ accusations.

Stevens, for her part, isn’t mincing words, declaring, "Enough is enough — we need leaders who put science over chaos, facts over lies, and people over politics." It’s a catchy soundbite, but conservatives might argue that science itself is often politicized by those waving the “trust the experts” banner.

Impeachment Move Sparks Debate

Looking at the broader picture, Stevens’ push for impeachment also includes claims that Kennedy has neglected statutory duties in overseeing the FDA and CDC, a serious accusation that demands hard evidence over emotional rhetoric.

While this drama unfolds, many on the right might see Stevens’ move as a distraction from addressing real health care solutions, especially when costs are hitting American families hard—something both sides should prioritize over political point-scoring.
