House Democrat Leader Stepping Down

 October 2, 2023

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) has created a bit of a shockwave through the Democrat Party.

Dean has announced that he will vacate his leadership position to challenge Joe Biden in the primary election.

Talking Points…

  • Phillips stepping down
  • Concerns about Biden
  • My Two Cents…

Phillips Stepping Down

There have been quite a few rumors tied to Phillips over the last month, and then Phillips confirmed that he was very worried about Biden's ability to win this election.

So, now, he is openly stating that he will vacate his leadership role, possibly to challenge Biden.

Phillips stated:

“My convictions relative to the 2024 presidential race are incongruent with the majority of my caucus, and I felt it appropriate to step aside from elected leadership."

When he was later asked about challenging Biden, he said:

"I am thinking about it. I haven't ruled it out. I'm concerned that there is no alternative."

Concerns About Biden

Joe Biden continues to commit gaffes and stumbles that evoke little faith from Democrats in his ability to win a general election.

One of the more significant concerns is the forgetfulness and constant mental errors that Biden makes.

Additionally, his campaign has not been able to get any grip regarding the alleged successes that this administration claims it has over Biden's first two years in office.

To put it bluntly, nothing Biden is doing is working from the public's perception, and his numbers keep going backward because of it.

My Two Cents…

If we had another frontrunner from the GOP, I honestly believe this would be a runaway race.

That is not a dig against Trump, but it is a fact that he is hated by moderates and independents who will never vote for him regardless of who is running on the other side.

The only reason Biden is still in this race is because of Trump and all of his legal problems.

The fact that Democrats in leadership are now stepping down tells me that internal polling may be far worse than public polling, hence the concern by people like Phillips.

The sad reality, however, is that the DNC will not hold debates, and the party as a whole will still back Joe Biden over anyone else.

The DNC has decided that Biden is their horse, and they are going to ride him into November.

I just hope the GOP can take advantage of this and not blow an amazing opportunity, again.
