Last year, during the CPAC event, failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake claimed that some very powerful people had attempted to bribe her to get her not to run.
Most people dismissed her claim, but there is now audio of the proposal, and Lake is now calling for the RNC Chair to resign over the leak.
Talking Points…
- The bribe
- Lake responds to leaked audio
- Analysis
The audio first surfaced in a report in the Daily Mail, but it has since blown up all over the internet. In the audio, Arizona RNC Chair Jeff DeWit is clearly offering Lake a monetary incentive to back out of the election, with Lake dismissing the offer, telling DeWit it was never about the money…
This kind of evil bribery is happening everyday in politics
People ask, what does it look like behind the scenes when people sell out and sell their souls
This is a perfect example, good on @KariLake for standing her ground

As noted above, they were pretty much dismissed when Lake made her initial comments in March 2023. At the time, she stated:
"They came to my door and they tried to bribe me out of getting out of politics.
"This really happened. I'm telling you this because this is how disgusting politics is."
Lake is now adamant that DeWit, who brought the deal to Lake on behalf of the power brokers, must resign. She stated:
"He's gotta resign. We can't have somebody who is corrupt and compromised running the Republican Party."
Regardless of how people feel about Lake, she hit the nail on the head with this one, and she is dead right that DeWit should resign his position.
The fact that he was even willing to entertain the idea of buying off a possible candidate to appease the money people in the party is utterly disgusting, but it also goes to show the much larger problem in the GOP today.
If a state party Chair was willing to entertain this, let alone approach a candidate about it, just how much influence and power are these people wielding in the party already? How many candidates on both sides of the aisle have taken those campaign donations and are now allowing the "team" to call the shots rather than the people they are supposed to represent?
DC needs to be flushed, with all of these corrupt officials being both outed and ousted. The system is badly broken, and the only way to fix it is to remove suspect candidates and replace them with new faces that will do what they are supposed to do… represent We the People, not push their personal agenda or try to "lead" us.
