KJ Biermann, the teenage son of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak, sits in a youth detention center on aggravated sexual battery and aggravated sodomy charges, and his mother says the allegations are false.
Authorities in Alpharetta, Georgia, arrested the 15-year-old last week on two felony counts stemming from an alleged incident in April. Prosecutors filed the charges on August 17, and KJ Biermann, full name Kroy Jagger Biermann, is being held with no bond at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center ahead of a preliminary hearing set for September.
Georgia law makes this case unusual. Under the state's SB440, adult superior courts take jurisdiction over teenagers between 13 and 17 who are accused of certain violent felonies. That statute is why a high schooler now faces charges in adult court.
Kim Zolciak did not stay quiet. The reality television figure issued a lengthy statement to Fox News Digital pushing back hard on the charges against her son.
"The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling. He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged."
Zolciak went further, claiming her son voluntarily submitted to a polygraph examination and passed. She also said a separate examination found no DNA belonging to KJ Biermann. Neither the identity of the polygraph examiner nor the authority behind the DNA examination was disclosed in her statement.
She then raised questions about the accuser's credibility:
"We are also aware that this individual has made similar allegations involving two other people, which raises serious concerns that deserve to be carefully examined."
That claim, that the alleged victim has accused others, comes solely from Zolciak's statement. No independent reporting or official source has confirmed it.
The arrest lands in a family that has spent years under tabloid scrutiny and legal strain. KJ is the oldest of four children shared by Zolciak and former NFL player Kroy Biermann. The couple also raised Zolciak's two daughters, Ariana and Brielle, from a previous relationship. Kroy Biermann adopted both.

Zolciak closed her statement with a broader appeal, one that tried to thread the needle between defending her son and acknowledging the seriousness of sexual assault allegations generally:
"False accusations can have devastating consequences not only for the person being accused, but also for genuine survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Every legitimate allegation deserves to be taken seriously and investigated based on the facts and evidence. At the same time, no one should be publicly condemned based solely on an accusation."
She asked the public to let the legal process run its course.
Several key questions remain unanswered. The identity of the alleged victim has not been made public.
