Kid Rock’s Christian album with Eminem sparks fan boycott threats

Some Eminem fans are scrubbing playlists and threatening boycotts after Kid Rock announced a Christian album featuring the rapper, citing the rocker’s support for President Trump.

Kid Rock revealed his upcoming Christian project “Halfway 2 Jesus” with Eminem listed among the featured artists, and the reaction from a slice of the rapper’s online base was immediate. Within two hours of the announcement, users on Reddit’s r/Fauxmoi thread were posting disappointment and talking about deleting tracks.

Breitbart News reported the Instagram album reveal and the fast backlash, which centered less on the music than on Kid Rock’s well-known backing of President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

One Reddit poster wrote that Eminem “obviously knows better, yet he’d rather collab with this MAGA nut.” Another called it “a massive disappointment.” Others said they had already pulled the last Eminem songs from their playlists. One user asked whether Kid Rock might have simply used a name or sample rather than a real feature.

"Eminem is featured on Kid Rock’s new Christian album ‘Halfway 2 Jesus’. I’m so disappointed in Em. He obviously knows better, yet he’d rather collab with this MAGA nut!"

The complaints treat a long friendship as a political betrayal. That is the core of the flare-up: some fans appear unwilling to accept that two Detroit-tied artists can work together while disagreeing about elections.

Friendship outlasted the politics

Eminem and Kid Rock go back decades. Eminem appeared on Kid Rock’s 1998 track “F*** Off.” Kid Rock showed up in the video for Eminem’s 2013 song “Berzerk.” Both men have deep ties to Detroit, Michigan.

In October 2024, Kid Rock addressed the political gap directly in a video. He said he loves Eminem, they have been friends for many years, and he disagrees with the rapper’s politics. He also gave Eminem, and Taylor Swift, credit for speaking up for what they believe.

"I love Eminem. We’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal for that which they believe."

Eminem answered on X by finding common ground closer to home. He posted that one thing he and Kid Rock agree on is the Detroit Lions, writing “GO @Lions!!!!,” and added, “Appreciate you, Bob,” using Kid Rock’s real first name, Robert James Ritchie.

That exchange came after years of clear political contrast. Eminem has been an outspoken critic of Trump, posted a 2017 freestyle against him, and backed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race. Kid Rock has been a visible Trump supporter. None of that stopped the public courtesy or the earlier musical history.

Even some Reddit commenters noted the pattern. One wrote that Eminem “has made it clear he’ll remain friends with kid rock despite their political differences.” Another said the news did not sound right given how anti-Trump Eminem has been. The album announcement simply forced the issue back into view.

Boycott talk over a collab, not a conversion

No release date, full track list, or statement from Eminem’s camp appears in the available reporting. The feature rests on Kid Rock’s announcement. Fan skepticism about whether it is a full collaboration or something thinner remains unresolved.

What is resolved is the stated reason for the anger. Commenters tied their disappointment to Kid Rock’s politics, not to the Christian theme of “Halfway 2 Jesus” itself. Playlist-removal posts followed within hours. The language was personal and absolute: disappointment in “Em,” claims he “knows better,” and vows to live without his music.

That is a familiar pressure campaign. An artist crosses an ideological line by association, and a segment of the audience answers with exile from the queue. The prior record, shared stages, shared city pride, and a public thank-you to “Bob”, did not blunt it.

Eminem built a career on saying what he wanted. Kid Rock did the same. Their decision to keep working and stay friendly while voting differently is ordinary adult behavior. Treating it as disqualifying says more about the enforcers than about either musician.

Music still works when the people making it refuse to purge their friends over a ballot. Fans who cannot stand that reality are free to hit delete. The rest of the country does not have to pretend the friendship was the scandal.
