Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was rushed to a hospital Thursday after a medical emergency halted the band's Tulsa concert two songs in, with the show later continuing without him.

The rock band stopped its Tulsa, Oklahoma, performance almost as soon as it began when Castronovo left the stage and was taken for emergency care, Fox News Digital reported.

Journey then resumed the night with longtime drum technician Steve Toomey behind the kit, asking fans to pray while the 62-year-old drummer’s condition stayed out of public view.

No cause for the medical emergency was disclosed. Band members offered only brief reassurance from the stage as the Final Frontier farewell tour pressed on.

Prayers from the stage after two songs

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain stepped forward to address the crowd once it became clear the show could not continue as planned.

Cain told fans the band would wait on developments and called the break an unfortunate situation.

"We're going to see what happens as this progresses. It's an unfortunate situation. We're very sorry. We're hoping it's only a delay, but please, I'm sorry. Don't worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you."

Guitarist Neal Schon soon explained the plan to finish the concert with Toomey and asked for patience.

"Please give a big hand for Steve Toomey. We'll be back in about 15 minutes. We love you all. We're really sorry about the inconvenience."

Lead singer Arnel Pineda tried to settle nerves when the group returned.

"He's gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade," Pineda said, according to coverage cited by Fox News Digital from Ultimate Classic Rock.

Schon later dedicated the rest of the night to the missing drummer and again asked the audience for prayer.

"This concert's for Deen tonight. I'd love you all to pray for him. Everybody's been going through a lot. I think he's going to be fine."

Farewell tour keeps moving toward San Francisco

The interruption hit during Journey’s Final Frontier Tour, the North American run that started in February and is scheduled through November.

The tour is set to wrap Nov. 28 in San Francisco. Current lineup features include Schon, Cain, Pineda, Castronovo, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, and bassist Todd Jensen.

Schon has described the farewell trek as a chance to celebrate the catalog with fans who still pack arenas for the band’s classic rock standards.

Fox News Digital reached out to Journey’s representatives for comment on Castronovo’s condition. No response appeared in the initial reporting.

Video circulating on X showed the drummer’s transport from the venue, but the band released no formal medical update beyond the on-stage remarks.

Venue name details for the Tulsa stop were not provided in the early accounts. Local reporting from the Tulsa World was cited on Schon’s explanation that the concert would continue with Toomey.

For a band deep into a long goodbye tour, the sudden stop after two songs left the obvious questions hanging: what happened backstage, and how soon Castronovo might return to the kit.

Those answers stayed with the hospital and the band’s inner circle Thursday night.

The music went on. The prayers went up. That’s the part fans could control.
