One of the investigations that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has been conducting has been into FBI activity regarding investigations into pro-life Catholics.
This, along with the school board investigations, has taken some ugly turns, with Jordan digging very deep to see if the FBI has been weaponized against conservative Americans under this administration.
On September 23, 2022, Mark Houck was arrested after a rather dramatic show of force at his home in Bucks County, PA.
The FBI showed up complete with a caravan of vehicles and tactical gear.
His crime… was preaching on the sidewalk outside of an abortion clinic and being charged with allegedly assaulting a clinic volunteer, which Houck stated was protecting his son.
Tom Stevens, president and CEO of the Pro-Life Union, explained:
"There never was any blocking of access to an abortion center, and instead it was a moment of defense for the sake of his 12-year-old son.
"This has been a consistent experience down at Planned Parenthood, where Mark and his family have been hassled."
Houck was charged under the 1994 Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act while conservatives complained that authorities were not giving pro-life clinics the same protections, as well as this law being used to target pro-life activists.
That incident was one of several that drew the attention of Republican lawmakers, which eventually led to Jordan launching an investigation into the matter.
He pointed to the fact that when Houch was eventually brought to trial, he won the case, proving that the government was out of bounds in going after him in the matter.
Jordan then went directly after Biden, stating:
"Remember when Joe Biden stood in front of Independence Hall and talked about how one half of the country is fascist? It's this whole mindset. If you're pro-life, if you're a traditional Catholic, somehow you're radical, somehow you're an extremist.
"This is part of the Justice Department that said, if you're a mom and dad going to a school board meeting, you're an extremist as well… this is what's so scary."
Jordan went on to cite a recent report about how traditional Catholics were being targeted…
I don't want to dump on the entire FBI because I know for a fact the majority of the agents are disgusted by these cases.
There does, however, seem to be a rogue element that exists, especially among leadership, that has apparently been able to continue to exist under current FBI Director Christopher Wray.
There is an apparent problem within the agency's leadership, which needs to be rectified as soon as possible.
We cannot allow our law enforcement agencies to become politicized or weaponized, and that is the general perception of the FBI right now.
