Jill Stein Arrested at Washington University Protest

 April 29, 2024

A presidential candidate was arrested this weekend for taking part in a college protest.

According to report, third-party candidate Jill Stein was among 100 or so people who were arrested at Washington University… and this is a far bigger deal than most people think.

Pro-Palestine Protests Erupt Around Country

As most of you know, our country has been littered with protests to support Palestine and trash Israel. Sadly, these protests have the support of far too many members of Congress. In fact, the daughter of one of our representatives, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), was arrested at Columbia, a school she does not even attend.

In addition to the protests, members of Congress, such as Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), have demanded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's resignation. The White House has also become very critical of Israel, which has created significant outrage on the left.

This went as far as tens of thousands of protest votes being filed against Joe Biden in the primary election. While they were not enough votes to cost him the primary, they would be enough to cost Biden the general election. This has presented a rather significant opportunity, one that Jill Stein has decided to take advantage of.

Jill Stein Arrested as Protest

To this point, no presidential candidates have fully jumped in with protesters, but that just changed. On Saturday, Jill Stein and some of her staffers were among the 100 or so people who were arrested at Washington University in St. Louis. According to Stein's campaign manager, Jason Call, he, Stein, and Kelly Merrill-Cayer, Stein's deputy campaign manager, were all arrested at the protest. Call stated:

"The demand from the encampment was specifically for the university to divest from Boeing, which manufactures munitions used in the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza at their nearby St Charles facility.

"The Stein campaign supports the demands of the students and their peaceful protest and assembly on campus. Student protest for peace and civil liberties has always represented the best part of our collective moral conscience. Solidarity."

These protests have gotten to the point that schools have temporarily gone remote, such as Columbia University, where tuition is more than $60,000. They have also resulted in graduation ceremonies being canceled, as just happened at USC. They are literally holding college campuses hostage.

Analysis

So, why is this all a big deal for a candidate who is pulling about 2% of the overall vote right now? Stein is doing this because she wants the support of these protesters, having been the only presidential candidate who put skin in the game with them.

If only half the people who filed protest votes during the primary now vote for Stein, then you factor in the support that Kennedy already has, it would seem to be very difficult for Joe Biden to overcome those numbers to beat Trump in the general election. This could literally turn the election into an electoral college landslide for Trump.

Right now, Ukraine and these protests are Trump's answer to COVID from the 2020 election. Just as COVID cost Trump, Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas War could cost Joe Biden. Trump may be blasting both on Truth Social, but believe me, he knows one of his best chances of winning are for both of these to drag out through election day.
