JD Vance criticizes democrats and the media over gang members' deportation

 April 3, 2025

Vice President JD Vance recently voiced strong opinions regarding the deportation of a suspected MS-13 gang member.

During a televised interview, Vance defended the administration's decision to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia, amidst criticism from Democrats and certain media circles, Fox News reported.

In an interview on "Fox & Friends," the Vice President expressed his dissatisfaction with the response from Democrats and mainstream media to the deportation of Garcia. Vance highlighted that the criticism seemed misplaced, focusing on procedural aspects rather than the individual's legal and immigration status.

Judicial Findings on Garcia’s Gang Affiliations

Details emerged from an immigration hearing in 2019, where a judge concluded that Garcia, despite his protected status claims, should be affiliated with the violent MS-13 gang. The judge noted Garcia's traffic violations and instances of failing to appear in court.

Federal attorneys also noted an administrative error that led to Garcia being sent to the CECOT men’s prison in El Salvador, a detail first reported by The Atlantic. This move has raised questions concerning the handling and implications of his deportation.

Vance stated in the "Fox & Friends" interview, "We do not ask permission from far-left Democrats before we deport illegal immigrants. We do the American people's business,” emphasizing the administration's stance on handling deportations autonomously.

Vance's Critique of Democratic Priorities

Garcia’s story, as relayed by JD Vance, points to broader issues of immigration policy and national security. Garcia, who first came to the U.S. in 2011 fleeing gang threats in El Salvador, later had ties with MS-13—a contradiction that raises security concerns.

JD Vance argued about the misplaced priorities of congressional Democrats:
"We do the American people's business," - JD Vance.

Despite the controversy, neither the Democrats northe  media disputed Garcia’s unlawful presence and legal breaches, Vance pointed out. Instead, their critiques focused mainly on the reasoning behind his deportation, which JD Vance found illogical.

Deportation Amidst Broader Political Discussions

The controversy over Garcia’s deportation comes amidst Vance’s broader discussion of national matters. In the same interview where he addressed Garcia's deportation, Vance also dismissed rumors regarding tech entrepreneur Elon Musk and touched on ongoing concerns about trade tariffs.

The mention of U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s visit to the Terrorist Confinement Center in Tecoluca, El Salvador, highlighted the ongoing focus on international security and criminal organizations.

This situation sheds light on the tensions and challenges at the intersection of immigration law enforcement, international relations, and domestic policy. The administration's forceful approach to deportations, especially of individuals involved with criminal organizations, underscores a commitment to national security concerns, as vocalized by Vice President Vance.

The ongoing debates and the administration’s justifications on such sensitive matters remain pivotal in shaping the discourse around immigration and safety in the U.S.
