Iran-backed Iraqi Judge Who Issued Trump Warrant Was Set to Visit DOJ

 October 9, 2023

Prior to the attack against Israel, for some reason, the DOJ thought it would be a good idea to invite alleged pro-Iran regime jurist Faiq Zidan, to visit the Department of Justice.

This is the same Iraqi judge that issued the warrant against Donald Trump.

Talking Points…

  • The warrant
  • DOJ response
  • My Two Cents…

The Warrant

The warrant for Trump was issued after the attack that took out General Soleimani.

The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, at the time, announced:

"After the completion of the preliminary investigation procedures, the judge decided to issue an arrest warrant for the outgoing President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

"The investigation procedures will continue to find out the other participants in the implementation of this crime, whether they are Iraqis or foreigners."

DOJ Response

The judge who issued that warrant was Faiq Zidan, who, it was reported, had planned on visiting the DOJ this week.

Whether that visit was canceled because the meeting was discovered or due to the attack against Israel by Hamas remains to be seen.

When Fox News reached out to the State Department for clarification on Wednesday about the meeting, it responded:

"The Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan is going to be hosted by the Department of Justice so we defer to the DoJ to discuss their meetings. We engage with a wide range of counterparts in Iraq and we value engaging the Iraqi judiciary. The DOJ meets regularly with foreign judicial leaders."

Then, on Thursday, Fox News was told, "Zidan will not be meeting with any DOJ officials."

My Two Cents…

I have to ask, why would our Justice Department invite Zidan to this country?

Furthermore, the optics of this are horrific, especially when you consider this is the man who had issued an active warrant for the arrest of Donald Trump.

I would hope arresting Trump and extraditing him was not on the table, but you just never know with this administration and Joe Biden's desire to remain in power.

I am far from the only one outraged by the idea of our Department of Justice hosting this man.

For instance, Richard Goldberg, a senior adviser for the Washington, D.C.-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies, stated:

"The Justice Department should be focused on protecting Americans targeted by IRGC assassinations and kidnapping plots, not hosting the IRGC's man in Baghdad who wants to prosecute Americans for killing terrorists. Zidan should not be allowed in America."

If you ask me, this is yet another case of Joe Biden getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

It is also an example of his incessant need to coddle up to terrorist nations.

There is simply no way we can allow this man to win the 2024 election.
