Hunter Biden was scheduled to testify in a closed-door hearing this week before a House committee.
Instead, Hunter showed up outside, gave a press conference, and revealed he would not be testifying behind closed doors, but he did offer up a disclaimer to protect his father, which drew very serious criticism due to the wording of the denial.
Once again, Hunter tried appealing directly to the people of this country that he is a victim, even though his tax and gun crimes are undebatable.
Hunter wanted to testify before Congress with an open and televised hearing, but the GOP had scheduled closed-door testimony, which is not uncommon for a witness first time in the hot seat.
Instead of testifying, Hunter gave a press conference, where he tried to protect his father from the allegations regarding his business interests. Hunter stated:
"Let me state as clearly as I can: My father was not financially involved in my business — not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad and certainly not as an artist."
The wording said it all, as Hutner usually says his father had nothing to do with his business, but this time, he added "financially involved," which is fairly significant. When the New York Times first reported the story, the publication chose to leave those words out, immediately getting called out on X, and eventually stealth editing the article to put those words back into the quote.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) responded:
"That is a huge change, which means — sort of means he's involved. I think that's how anyone with common sense would read it."
I agree entirely with Jordan on this, as did many other conservative pundits and legal experts. Hunter literally put a qualifier in there, more or less admitting that his father was involved, but only to promote the business, not necessarily financially.
Most people are not buying that, however, as there are still those loan payments where we have yet to see proof of a front-end payment by Joe Biden to justify the repayments by James and Hunter Biden.
The American people are not stupid, and the more this family plays semantics, the guiltier they appear in the eyes of the American people.
