A major Trump-aligned think tank raises concerns about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's financial contribution to a wellness center run by President Joe Biden's daughter.
According to Daily Mail, the Heritage Foundation is calling for "significant scrutiny" of a quarter-million dollar donation made by the couple's Archewell Foundation to Ashley Biden's Women's Wellness (Spa)ce in Philadelphia.
The donation, revealed in Archewell's December impact report, came during the 2023-2024 tax year when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared to be seeking closer ties with the Biden family. Their attempts included a rejected request to return to the US on Air Force One after Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022 and an unsuccessful invitation to Jill Biden to attend the Invictus Games.
Nile Gardiner, who leads the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation, voiced his concerns in Washington while attending a hearing about Prince Harry's immigration files.
The think tank believes Harry may have misrepresented his drug use or received preferential treatment when entering the US in 2020.
The Heritage Foundation's stance carries significant weight as it maintains close ties with the Trump administration. Its "Project 2025" document has proven influential, with its author, Russell Vought, recently securing confirmation to head the Office of Management and Budget.
President Trump, however, expressed no interest in deporting Prince Harry. At a recent event, he stated:
I'll leave him alone. He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible.
Meghan Markle's political activities have included direct advocacy for paid leave on Capitol Hill and a video conference with California Governor Gavin Newsom. One poll during the previous election showed her tied with then-Vice President Kamala Harris at 25 percent among Democratic voters considering female candidates.
The Women's Wellness (Spa)ce features prominently in Archewell's latest impact report. The center aims to support women affected by trauma, particularly those previously incarcerated, offering resources like nutritious food, exercise, meditation, and therapeutic interventions.
Omid Scobie, Meghan's biographer and friend, has previously discussed her political aspirations, suggesting she might pursue the presidency. This political interest reportedly influenced her decision to maintain her US passport after marrying Prince Harry.
When approached for comment, Archewell representatives were unavailable. However, sources close to the organization dismissed suggestions of curry-favoring with the Bidens, stating the donation aligned with Ashley Biden's shared interest in mental health initiatives.
The scrutiny comes as Harry and Meghan appear to be taking different professional directions. While Harry focuses on Invictus Games and humanitarian work, Meghan is developing her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which has only distributed jam samples to select celebrities.
The Heritage Foundation's call for an investigation into the Archewell Foundation's donation to Ashley Biden's wellness center has sparked debate about the intersection of charitable giving and political influence. As the Sussexes navigate their post-royal lives in America, their $250,000 contribution to the Philadelphia-based trauma-informed center raises questions about their motivations and future aspirations, particularly regarding Meghan's potential political ambitions and their relationship with the Biden administration.
