 June 1, 2024

Johnny Wactor, an actor from the television series "General Hospital," was tragically killed in a shooting incident.

According to Fox News, a co-worker of  Johnny Wactor claimed that safety concerns were ignored before his murder on May 25.

Johnny Wactor was known for more than just his role on a popular soap opera; he also worked part-time as a bartender at Level 8, a well-known Los Angeles bar.

His death has led to a significant outcry from colleagues and the public about improved security measures in workplace environments that operate late at night.

Anita Joy, a colleague and a friend of Wactor has since expressed profound grief and anger over the incident. She criticized the establishment for inadequate security after night shifts, highlighting that employees face dangers while others are asleep. In response, Level 8 and its managing company, Houston Hospitality, pledged to enhance safety protocols, including providing security escorts to their staff.

Witness and Friend Raises Alarm Over Security Flaws

During the week following his passing, Anita Joy took to social media to share her frustrations and the details surrounding the tragedy. With a heavy heart, she emphasized the vulnerability of late-night workers and their need for greater protection.

He was killed senselessly by a coward who reacted without care for the gorgeous life he was taking. I'm angry, I'm sad and I'm all the feelings at once, but above all, I am here for Johnny's justice.

Following the incident, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) swiftly responded and began an investigation. They are currently seeking three male suspects, who were last seen wearing dark attire and fleeing the scene in a dark sedan. This has intensified calls from the community and local signals demanding urgent action and measures to prevent similar incidents.

Community and Coworkers Demand Action

The public has shown immense support for Johnny Wactor, with numerous people rallying under the hashtag #JusticeForJohnny. They have called on Councilmember Kevin de León and other officials to expedite the investigation to capture those responsible and ensure community safety.

In their social media tribute, Level 8 expressed their devastation about losing a cherished member of their team. The post emphasized their longstanding commitment to employee safety, but one member of the staff has voiced concerns that security measures are insufficient:

Most of the security guards leave before us for those of us who work at the restaurant. Let's park at the hotel. The valet refuses to let the staff park even though we're willing to pay.

As the investigation continues, the community and those who knew Johnny Wactor remain vigilant. They hope for justice for Wactor and systemic changes that will protect other workers in similar environments.

Currently, the LAPD's efforts are focused on gathering evidence and identifying the suspects involved in the shooting. They have assured the public and Wactor’s loved ones of their dedication to solving this case swiftly.

In closing, the tragic death of Johnny Wactor has ignited a powerful discussion on safety in nightlife establishments and the risks faced by employees. The incident has united coworkers, friends, and the community in their call for justice and lasting change, emphasizing the need for better protection for those who serve the city's nightlife.
