How many times have we said that the best way to deflect from one's own nefarious acts is to either blame the other side or jokingly admit the truth?
Gavin Newsom recently did the latter, and I believe he may have just let the Democrat plan slip out on national TV.
Talking Points…
- Joe Biden removed
- Gavin Newsom jokes about the coup
- Analysis
Biden's removal from the election was unprecedented in this country's history. Dating back to the early 1800s, we have had nearly two dozen blowout elections, and at no time did the party pull the candidate after a primary election simply because they were not polling very well, but that is what happened here.
The Democrats could have removed Biden by the 25th Amendment, which would have elevated Harris, but they did not want to do that because it would have proven that everything the GOP has been saying about Joe Biden over the last two years was correct. However, had they done that, most people would have accepted Harris as the candidate since she would have been the incumbent.
Joe Biden could have, and should have, resigned the office of the presidency, which again would have elevated Harris to the incumbent. And again, I don't think there would have been too much pushback on her being the candidate if she was the incumbent. Instead, the Democrats pressured Biden to step down after the debate and the crash in the polls. I would argue this is unconstitutional and have stated many times that I don't understand why the RNC is not challenging her candidacy.
It took Democrats all of two days to anoint Harris as the candidate. There were no debates, and there was no input from the American people. Instead, Biden endorsed Harris, and his delegates immediately threw their support to Harris, basically ending this in less than 48 hours. If Democrats at least wanted to make this appear Democratic, they should have held a debate between candidates and asked for a special primary. Instead, nobody else ever had a shot, and the party's elite ensured it.
To that point, Newsom was on the Pod Save America podcast when he discussed Harris being installed as the candidate. He joked about the very process that took place, stating:
"The switch? You know, we went through a very open process, a very inclusive process. It was bottom-up. I don't know if you know that.
"Yes, that's what I've been told to say."
Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor then yucked it up with Newsom, calling it a "blitz primary, with Pfeiffer then adding:
"A very, very fast blitz. It was a blink primary, that's what you call that."
Democrats have to know this move is suspect at best, which is why they are now trying to sell Joe Biden as a selfless hero who "did what was right for the country." They say they are the party that will save Democracy, yet this was the most undemocratic move you could make in terms of keeping an election on the up and up.
Going back to the RNC not challenging her candidacy, the only reason I can think they are not challenging it now is to challenge if Trump loses the election, but that is a big roll of the dice to me. I would rather challenge it now so the American people can see what they did and force the Democrats to try to justify this without sticking their foot in their mouth regarding Biden's mental health. The RNC needs to fight this, and they need to fight it now.
