The music community mourns the loss of singer and former contestant of NBC's "The Voice" Ryan Whyte Maloney.
As reported by The Independent, the 44-year-old artist was found dead on Tuesday, January 28, in Las Vegas, with the Clark County Coroner confirming his death by suicide.
Maloney, who gained recognition during the sixth season of "The Voice" in 2014, recently celebrated his birthday on January 16.
His last public appearance was notably meaningful, as he performed alongside his former coach, Blake Shelton, at the opening night of Ole Red, a live music venue in Las Vegas, in April 2024.
Born in Traverse City, Michigan in 1981, Maloney demonstrated exceptional musical versatility from an early age. His instrumental prowess extended across multiple instruments, including guitar, violin, cello, and drums. Before his television debut, he spent a decade as the frontman for the progressive rock group Indulge.
The talented musician's career took a significant turn when he decided to leave Indulge in 2015 to pursue solo opportunities. This decision led to the release of his debut solo album "Where I've Been" and several country radio hits, including "Hillbilly," "Michigan Moonlight," and "Living with No Directions." These songs received airplay across multiple states, including Michigan, Nevada, Colorado, and California.
