Former President Trump Discusses Close Call With Former White House Physician After Second Assassination Bid

 September 17, 2024

Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, narrowly escaped harm during an assassination attempt at his golf club.

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), who previously served as Trump's White House doctor, was among those contacted by the former president.

Jackson had previously tended to Trump's wound after a bullet grazed his right ear during the first assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

According to Daily Mail, the incident occurred on September 15, 2024, at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The recent attempt marks the second time in two months that Trump has been targeted.

Trump's Conversation With Former White House Physician

Jackson shared details of his conversation with Trump following the second attempt. He recounted Trump's words:

He told me he was always glad to hear from me but he was glad he didn't need my services today. I just told him I was glad he was OK and he said he can't believe this happened. But he said he's doing well and the team was doing well.

These comments provide insight into Trump's state of mind immediately following the incident, showcasing his resilience and concern for his team's well-being.

Details Of The Second Assassination Attempt

The second assassination attempt unfolded while Trump was playing golf with real estate investor Steve Witkoff, a friend and campaign donor. The incident occurred near holes five, six, and eight of Trump International Golf Club.

An agent from Trump's advance team spotted a rifle muzzle protruding from the chain-link fence in the surrounding trees and brush, two holes ahead of where the former president was playing. The Secret Service quickly responded, firing shots at the suspected assassin.

Trump's Reaction And Security Response

Despite the gravity of the situation, Trump reportedly maintained his composure. In a conversation with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump jokingly expressed disappointment that his golf game was interrupted, claiming he was set to shoot under par.

Hannity relayed Trump's account of the incident:

They were on the fifth hole, they were about to go up to putt. [They heard] 'pop, pop, pop, pop' before the Secret Service pounced on top of Trump to protect him.

Following the gunshots, Trump was swiftly evacuated from the golf course in a steel-reinforced vehicle, prioritizing his safety above all else.

In conclusion, the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump occurred at his golf club in West Palm Beach. Trump contacted allies, including former White House physician Ronny Jackson, to reassure them of his safety.

The incident took place during a golf game, with Secret Service agents quickly responding to the threat. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Trump maintained his composure and even joked about the interruption to his game.
